By this, I don't mean a thread to argue whether or not something's stupid or overreacting or over sensitive, or a discussion of why people can't simply separate someone insulting someone or saying something smarmy from normal conversation, but since everything seems to be changing very fast about what you can and cannot say and it's gotten to the point now that it's left common sense so far behind that you can't even see it and common sense itself, or at least the phrase "common sense" may become not PC soon if it's not already, but how about a list for those of us who aren't really up on the latest nonoffensive trends.

Even I know that it's not only not PC, but not appropriate to use racial and ethnic and religious slurs to refer to people or normally offensive terms to refer to someone's illness, handicap, disability, syndrome or whatever, so we don't need to include that stuff. That's common sense. However, it's the newer things I'm wondering about. Like, I recently found out that we can't say "Oriental" anymore to refer to people, places, or things from the China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc, and we now must say "Asian" which I've found out also refers to Indian (from India) people as well, but not American Indians who must now be called Native Americans instead, anyway. Also, the whole not calling people with Leprosy "Lepers" anymore was a big surprise, so I guess I'm just looking for a list of what I'm not supposed to say now. Whether I'll follow it or not is a whole different kettle of marine life forms, but I'd still like to know, and I bet there are others here who would also be interested.

So, what are we not supposed to say? I'm serious, and not baiting folks to give me a list and then tell them it's stupid. I'm honestly not doing that. We can discuss these newly offensive terms and why they are perceived to be that way or even the whole concept of PC, but lets do that on another thread, and you can start one if you want. I will probably chime in. But I'd really like to know.

Everything I hate isn't PC. That is the logic.
