I'm actually not surprised, anyone else see that Newscorp and more specifically Fox News was not on the list.

Good to see that Google isn't on the list, though. If they were, we'd be really screwed.

1. Entire country of China
2. Entire country of the Vatican, Italy
3. Entire city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia
4. Fox News (speculation to censor all news written by the godless Democrats)
5. Sarah Palin (speculation in her bid to become the first USA woman president who, when elected, will resign two weeks later to do other things)
6. Dr. Evil and Mini-Me from the Austin Powers action-comedy films starring Mike Myers
7. Years ago, Microsoft wanted US internet censorship of Netscape

I don't know about Fox News, but the reason Microsoft didn't sign that is most likely they already have lobbyists and actual minions in top spheres so they don't have to and may spare the PR issues while manipulating the government.

Or maybe they don't want this thing, even for them this law is probably too ret*d. Actually no software giant but Activision seems to be there. and activision has morons like Bobby Kotick in them.
Nevertheless, we shouldn't be drooling for the big "favor" certain companies are doing us by not signing it. Not promoting web censorship should be the default and not the exception.

Nah, it is unlikely they would target Fox News or any mainstream news site. They will use the law to first attack copyright infringement and then they will go after sites "that put US in danger" like wikileaks and such.

Anyway, you are right that they deserve credit for not being in the list. However, I would like to see some actual opposition to the bill. All the media I see opposing it seem to involve tech sites and no news channel.

Sorry for spam, just figured, it is just the list of companies that sent the letter, so it is not the complete list of companies that agree with it.

If anyone is a fan of a specific company or entity (ie: google, fox news, mozilla, apple) then I suggest you try out asking those companies to send a letter showing opposition to this bill. Because at the end, the parties that do not show any public opposition (regardless of whether they agree with censorship or not) would be agreeing by omission for not sending such letter.

I think those companies maybe try to suppress criticism of their product or service. I don't know if boycotts will work in this situation. Alot of people were calling for a boycott of Target after it took advantage of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and that boycott never got off the ground.

Long story short, I put something similar to that at the end of one of my threads a few weeks ago, and Ikorack suggested that I make it a signature. Dox47 called it a threat to behave, and thats what it is.

I am sick of these big companies trying to run our world. They didnt invent the internet and probably know sod all about its complexity. They are just scared that their control over us is dwindling as people switch off the tv and go online to entertain themselves. Even if they did censor it, another network would pop up and contain all the censored stuff.
