I have always been out of touch and taken by surprise by the ebb and flow of popular interest.

So I am asking - is it just a highway gridlock phenomenon, or is there a trigger for the perceived significant rise in topics relating to Jews / antisemitism and homosexuals / homophobia [three of which terms are gross offenses against etymology and one of which cries out for justice on the coiner]?

Not among the Illuminati - Surely the Bilderbergers or some other secret international society knows the answer to those questions. My personal view is that much of this caused is with the difficulty TV manufacturers are having in trying to ramp TV up to 3D and these questions are only scapegoating/attempts to buy time until the 3D TV question is fully resolved. (...just kidding a little...)

Like a drinking dive this forum attracts new regulars from time to time.

Fresh faces often have fresh obsessions and liven things up with fresh topics.

Thats whats happened this past week with those two topics.

There isnt much cosmic significance to it.

It just happens from time to time.

You dont mean the "illuminati".

You mean the "cognescienti".

Members of the cognescienti knows whats 'happening' - sometimes it means highbrow stuff like fine wines- sometimes it used to mean those who are hip to pop culture- either way it makes perfect sense to use the term here.

The Illuminati was a real secret society in the seventeen hundreds that sought to bring the ideals of the Englightenment into Bavaria.


It died out, but it got latched onto (like the Freemasons) as a scapegoat for conspiracy theories.

Whether you're a paranoid believer in conspiracy theories or not it makes no sense to use the term the way you're using it here.
