Was Saddam Hussein truly a loving and forgiving man full of mercy and kindness (as his letter implies)? Or was he truly a sicko who had no idea what love and compassion is?

Read the letter he wrote right before he was executed and then see for yourself if you can truly trust a man to be loving and compassionate just by reading what he preaches about love and forgiveness in his writings and letters.

Then think for yourself if you can truly trust that Yahweh is loving and compassionate just because of the words that He said in the Bible.

Do you truly believe actions speak louder than words?

EDIT: That's a lot of "truly", lol.

We never got to hear his side, did we? The trial was closed and his defence lawyers kept getting killed.
Then he was put to death with disrespect and contempt.

I dare say he was a "hard man" but under his rule the country was rich. Women had more rights than in any other Muslim country. The Sunnis and the Shiites weren't blowing each other to bits.
They had universal health care and a great education system.

Anyone could walk into a gun shop and buy a fully automatic AK47.

It was obvious that Saddam wasn't a nice guy at all. He tortured people and a lot of Iraqis hated his guts.

I hope you realize this isn't meant to be a discussion about politics (which side is right/wrong). It's more a discussion about psychology and how people tend to follow those who are good with words of love and forgiveness even if they're not loving and forgiving.

I heard Obama's speech today. He is good with words too. By the end of the speech I was sure his nose would have grown so long it would have hit the back wall of the auditorium.

I am saying that there is no difference between him and our last several presidents except perhaps that Saddam actually cared about raising the living standards of his own people.

Likely something in between. People usually believe themselves to have noble motives, and in reality you seldom have anyone who is all good or all evil.

What the heck? Oh, I suppose you're trying to argue that because a tyrannical dictator of a desert wannabe empire got wound up when he realized that his time was finally over, that it implies that anyone who speaks compassionately is also therefore not in the same manner that Saddam Hussein was not. ... Right.... that so makes sense if you're on drugs, but not if your 'truly' sober....

The point is that one should not BLINDLY trust any person to be loving and compassionate without checking for himself that he is as he says he is.

There's a big lesson that we can all learn from this.
