I'm just curious as to whether Aspies are typical in this. I feel like I've seen more liberals than conservatives on here, but that could just be me remembering posts that echo my own views. Anyway, vote for you're position, and feel free to elaborate. You're welcome to ask others for clarification on their stance, but please don't get nasty with each others.

I voted for Center-Left, although I have a great deal of respect for Left wing views. I'm fascinated by the ideas of Socialism (and even Communism, if it were a bit more democratic, I rather like the idea of). However, I highly doubt that there will ever be a far-left government in the currently industrialized countries (it might happen in South America or India, maybe), so I'll probably end up voting for center-left parties. Also, there's the fact that I work a lot harder than most people seem to and I guess I'm a little bit too selfish to be heart-set on a society where I'd have to share the fruits of my labour :( . Or the Green Party.

Damn it! Somehow I messed up the poll. I wanted there to be an option for Left-wing as well. Does anyone know if and how I can fix that?

No left option? I fall in with libertarians/minarchists, so...left?

Unsure what to choose. I am a social conservative but an economic centrist (though I am in favor of unionism and a social safety net comprised of healthcare and unemployment support).

I'm sorry about that. I tried to put one in, but this is the first poll I've set up and I did something wrong. So it's not there. I don't suppose you'd know how to fix that?

As far as I know you can edit the poll by editing the original post.

Center left. I find the far right and far left equally nutty.

Sort of.

Someone should write up a quiz for political spectrum(one of those what is your type things). But it shouldn't be the common spectrum(right-left), as that one is overly limiting and only contributes to stagnant politics.

That's a common mistake; you have to click the "add poll option" button after every entry to make it actually register. I'm pretty sure that the poll is uneditable after someone has already voted, except by a moderator.

I've tried that. It doesn't work.

That would be nice. You could have economic views, social views, willingness to accept authoritarianism, secularism vs. theocracy, maybe environmental views. I pity anyone in the USA who doesn't fall correctly on all of these--how would a gay atheist who thinks global warming is a hoax and like lassez-faire economics supposed to vote? (To clarify, that would not be me--if I was American I'd be a Democrat pretty much through and through, but I can appreciate how hard it would be for some people).

That means someone already voted. You can ask a mod to add the "left" option.

There are several such tests, with varying levels of specificity. Certainly there are tests that distinguish between economic and social views, as well as environmental views and secularism vs theocracy.

They would likely join the GOProud political organization, which attempts to work within the Republican Party to cater to right-wing homosexuals and is presumably ok with atheists as well.

Having a cogent political, economic and ethical view is way beyond simple labels.

But I will take a chance: I am in favor of letting people do what they will as long as they do not initiate violence on others, defraud them or endanger them through stupidity and negligence. I do not require that people do Good. I insist that they do not do Evil.
