Well, right now I am worried in this so economically great but mentally challenged country if I and mine can get through 2011 [especially can we get past the taxes.

If we get through to the end of 2011, around December I will start worrying the same way about 2012, as I did in 2010 and 2009 [cause for alarm has been creeping the red needle higher].

But as for what I assume you mean, I see no good reason to expect this to be any more intriguing than the last 25 predicted Appointments with Destiny.

I need more evidence that the world is going to end, before I'm going to risk maxing out my credit card in December.

Hm, the evidence seems to be against the Mayan 2012 Doomsday Prophecy. For example, I have food that is to expire in 2013

Remember the "Harmonic Convergence"?

All of the cycles of all the ancient calenders ( Mayan included) converged on some day in the 1990's. Something good was supposed to happen ( I forget what- utopia breaking out or something). It was supposed to be the positive opposite of doomsday.
Folks gathered on mountain tops but nothing happened.

Its the same logic. Because people can count then they must have some prophetic power.

So 2012 will have the same impact as the harmonic convergence-none at all.

But even if im wrong-hey-we survived the Y2K crises- so we can survive this!

Natty Boh - Put a couple six-packs of your namesake in the cooler and do NOT bother going to the mountain top - you hit 30 but the world goes on.

And on and on and some days you wish it hadn't - but mostly it is no worse than the first 30 on average, perhaps a notch better.

Nonsense. There is nothing special about 30. Anything you could say about being 30 you could say almost the same about being 29 or 31.

First- I was speaking of the Y2k computer bug- which in theory wouldve been a real crises had it materialized.

But the main point is that I was being faceatious. The long feared Y2k thing turned out to be a total non event thus "surviving" it didnt take much fortitude!
If we can survive a hyped up unreal REAL crise then I wouldnt worry about a hyped up UNreal UNreal crises like 2012.
