Don't let it bother you. Years of trying to communicate with all kinds of minds say if you do not get it, you won't get it, and it is not important.
It is like someone - say my wife - being upset because of wearing brown shoes when the occasion demands black. That is one I don't get [I like brown shoes, hate black, occasion has nothing to do with it and I wish they would fit better.]
Ok so I guess this is about what's socially appropriate. Wear black to what? A wedding? A funeral?
Oh, mon, how would I know?
People - usually but not always women - tell me:
Color A and Color B GO together, but Color B and Color C do NOT go together.
Both look fine to me.
They tell me:
The blue in that couch brings out your eyes.
The couch when I look at it has a VERY narrow blue stripe, but most of the pattern is red. My eyes are brownish grey So?
They tell me:
Because it is the springtime and this is a faculty get together but it is at the club, you should wear THESE shoes.
I look in vain for a pattern.
And these dame people think I am weird because I won;t eat cereal at midnight but will eat cold hot dogs for breakfast.
People are like that - I leave it at that.
