Just saw this, sign of things to come or just a fluke? More political maneuvering or a shift in attitude?

I'm actually glad it is going away in all honesty.

Bush acted in some ways like the charecter Batman from the movie Dark Knight. Where his little spy system ends up self-destructing after he's finished catching the Joker. No matter what you could tell that Bush was out purely to protect the American people and he in fact even kept his mouth shut about things found in Iraq as well as terrorist plots thwarted that would have made his 2004 re-election a lot easier. However, he chose to protect the country not do what was politically expedient.

Scary part is I can't say that about Obama, he acts like he is a king or something. He has spat in the face of the Judicial Branch (the White House was recently found in contempt of court). His Justice Department dismissed a voter intimidation case that had already been won, because the victims were white and the defendents were black. He sat in the church of a wacko for 20 years whom among other things said: "G** D*** America!" in the church service (see: Rev. Wright). He started his state senate campaign in the home of a Domestic Terrorist that got off on a technicality and is also unrepentant about what he did (see: Bill Ayers). He also was on the same board as Ayers for a number of projects, and even wrote a review for Ayers' book (at Ayers' request).
http://www.hyscience.com/archives/2008/ ... as_r_1.php

So he lied there about his relationship with Ayers.

Next, let's examine Obama's claim that his connection to Ayers and Dohrn is "tenuous" and "phony." Is it phony that Obama's political coming-out party in the mid-1990s was hosted by Ayers and Dohrn? What about the panel discussions in which Ayers and Obama both took part—that were organized by Michelle Obama? Tenuous? I suppose the goodbye party for prominent Israel basher and Arafat apologist Rashid Khalidi, attended by Obama, Ayers and Dohrn, is also unworthy of discussion. That Khalidi himself hosted a fundraiser for Obama's first Congressional campaign must be completely irrelevant, too.
http://townhall.com/columnists/GuyBenso ... fact_sheet

Then we have this little pesky thing that is also why the mainstream media was so skittish after 9/11

Then there's the pesky fact that Obama and Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund for three years—and continued to do so even after Ayers was quoted in the New York Times fondly recalling his days as a bomber, and despairing that he hadn't "done more." (This quote, the Obama fact sheet reminds us, comes from an interview that just happened to be published on 9/11—Ayers had made the incendiary remarks earlier. I don't know about you, but that makes me feel a lot better). The funds Obama and Ayers helped control at the Woods Foundation funneled thousands of dollars into both Khalidi's organization and the now-infamous Trinity United Church of Christ. Irrelevant, phony distractions? So what if the Obama campaign's top strategist concedes that the Senator's relationship with the terrorist is "friendly"? I apologize for even devoting this much attention to such tenuous and unimportant information.

http://townhall.com/columnists/guybenso ... eet/page/2

By 9/11, it is saying 9/11/2001.

[i]Obama's "fact" sheet then brings us the crucial bulletin that all charges against Ayers were dropped, and that he spent no time in jail. Absolutely true. Except a minor detail was omitted: Ayers openly admits he is "guilty as sin" but "free as a bird." Charges were dropped because federal authorities overstepped their legal bounds in pursuing the Weathermen, not because the charges were unfounded. Perhaps this distinction was too nuanced for a man who found it appropriate to compare his racist pastor to his own grandmother, and an unrepentant terrorist to a respected United States Senator. The Obama campaign also curiously chose not to "fact check" Bernadine Dohrn's criminal record, which includes a seven-month stint in jail for refusing to cooperate with a murder investigation.

http://townhall.com/columnists/guybenso ... eet/page/2

Furthermore, the mainstream media that liberals here claim we should take at face value attempted to hide all of this from the American Public. Guess they were so busy trying to have Obama's babies that they couldn't do their job.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/terry-trip ... ding-obama

So I don't trust the current President of the United States as far as I could throw the Titanic. It really scares me to say that. I don't trust his judgement, I don't trust his word, hell I wouldn't trust him to give me the time of day.

Well hopefully this isn't just a temporary speed bump as I expect it is. Really dissapointed in some of the votes from so called Tea Partiers particularly Jason Chaffetz, Michele Bachmann, Jeff Flake, etc.

Now they'll try to pass it with a simple majority allowing debate and amendments.

I remember when Fox News started using this excuse. Do you guys* ever deal with reality or do you just think in terms analogous to TV and movies?

I've read numerous references from you relating government policy and action to movies and TV shows; particularly dealing with terrorism. It just comes off to me as that you (conservative voters) are so detached from, not only reality, but from terrorism and the political motives and people behind it that you can only associate it with shows and movies that are so far removed from reality that no reasonable person would ever relate the two unless they're THAT ignorant.

*conservative voters, not the cynical politicians and propagandists who manipulate you.

Maybe I should have sourced the reference.

Mystery writer Andrew Klavan, writing in The Wall Street Journal, compared the extreme measures that Batman takes to fight crime with those U.S. President George W. Bush used in the War on Terror. Klavan claims that, "at some level" The Dark Knight is "a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war." Klavan supports this reading of the film by comparing Batman—like Bush, Klavan argues—"sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past."

It's more of no liberal would make that comparison because they are still deluded enough to think Bush = spawn of satan.

WSJ = Fox News

Especially the Op-Ed section (which is where Klavan's article was published). WSJ's Op-Ed might as well just have a giant

On it.

The synergetic use of Murdock's media empire is something to be respected, studied, and squashed because it's entirely all too effective use of an illusion of multiple sources in agreeance when, in reality, they're all the same source.

WSJ isn't the only one to make that kind of a statement. Again, if Bush were what you leftist claim of being evil incarnent, why did he voluntarily give up power? He's pretty much kept himself out of the public arena now yet all you liberals can seem to do is blame Bush.

It was the start of a talking point that others would parrot.

In short, you are OK with blatant abuses of power and violations of the Constitution as long as it's your guy in charge.

There were a number of things Bush could have done that would have really abused his power. We had just been attacked and weren't sure if we would be attacked again.

You must really like that kool-aid....

Anyways my point is the patriot act was a hurried response to 9/11. Throughout Bush's Presidency he could have really abused the provisions in the patriot act. We could argue too that Democrats were the ones abusing power see Scooter Libby (and btw, the leak came from someone under Colin Powell and the prosecutor knew that and continued on his witchhunt).
