I genuinely thought I was doing something positive but it is clear me now, and I've learned a valuable lesson, that PPR is not the place to reach people in the preaching work. This is likely my last post in this forum.

If you want to debate, this is the place. If you want to convert people, then you're better off doing the door-to-door thingy. It is much more random that way, and, who knows, maybe one in a thousand households will be receptive.

I would hope you stick around, if only to get a better idea of the realities behind those you are attempting to witness to. That's where the value of this forum is - not in convincing each other, none of us are ever likely to do that here. But in comprehending where the other stands and why. Your literature won't give you that.

kxmode, instead of preaching to others, preach your way out of the trap you're in and then preach to others your newly found freedom. It's worth it in the long run. I was a literalist Christian myself so I know the difference.

I don't think preaching really converts many Atheists anyway, its more for personal reasons that they convert "back" to religion. Still, no reason not to b***h and argue about secular issues ;)

To all would be preachers: lead by example, not exhortation. Better we should do as you do than do as you say.
