Astro-turf movement that is closely associated with the GOP thus allowing the extreme elements to organize into chapters and spout their inane support of all things told to them by the richest elite of America. The GOP can pretend to not like Tea Party policies by saying they are separate thus it serves them by providing 'Plausible Deniability' to the extreme view points that the members of the TP generally have. Basically it allows the Republicans to have two faces, a form of meta-politics not unlike Fascism

I call them teabaggers because they want to teabag Sarah Palin.

I use that expression to clarify my belief that they are rubbing their collective dirty, hairy scrotums in everybody's face every time they try and influence policy

I think they are average Americans that the far-left is afraid of so the far left tries to demonize/make fun of/smear them constantly as we can see in responses seen above.

Let's get this myth out of the way. The Tea Party is not a uniform group. It is a group of many different people with a large diversity of beliefs.

Some people in the group are racist. Most aren't
Some support a strong national defense.
Some want a policy of non-interventionism.
Some people in the group are Republican.
Some people in the group are Libertarian.

Any stereotyping of the group shows a lack of being informed.

From what I can tell they're a mixture of national and traditional conservatives as well as libertarians. Basically, pissed off Republican-supporting citizens. They seem pretty grass roots - a Republican 'ginger group', if you like.

My opinion on the Tea Party developed over time from interest that a 'grass roots' movement had sprung up to disgust as I realized what it's true nature is.

I already posted in this thread earlier what my opinion of the Tea Party is. It is a 21st century brand of meta-politics

You do realize that the mainstream media has done its best to villify them.

I would hope by now you'd realize I don't trust mainstream media, right or left, I find it is all about entertainment by vilification and moral panic/fear mongering. My problems with Right-oriented media are probably apparent to most, but my problems with Left-oriented media are actually almost the same as with the Right. They both use the same weaponry against each-other. My opinion on the Tea Party stems from who supports it, what their messages are, my interactions with Tea Party members, and analogies I see between now and past 'grass roots' movements. I also dislike the 'Coffee Party'. I think organizations like this are inherently flawed

Not at all. The best to villify them would be like they did Ron Paul in the 2007 runup to the primaries where he got minimal coverage, was dismissed and it was simply left at the dismissal. The constant coverage ensures that more people will investigate and check it out as such constant coverage grants it a form of legitimacy; there's no such thing as bad press.
