I see no end in sight. I think it will last until the world ends (it will probably be a part of Armegeddon).

When the American military-industrial complex recededs significantly. I think there's already been a bit of a shift away from the more overt, propogandistic, "final vision" type of War on Terror.

Either until the world ends.
Or until they find a substitute for petroleum (which ever comes first).

I think there was a recent invention in the U.K., some kind of synthetic petrol that can be used in unmodified internal combustion engines and also has considerably less emissions. I wish I could remember where I first read about that

I think it might be a by-product of some kind of algae. Or maybe I am thinking of recent developments in diesel fuel

We elect somebody to end it by choice or more likely, it continues until our country and economy completely collapse.

International terrorism might disappear if internationalism itself disappears. The more integrated we are with the rest of the world, the more integrated we are with the rest of the world's problems...

Then basically its a bio fuel.

Like this gas-from-corn scam which uses more energy than it produces.
But algae may well be a better source than tradtional crops for energy.
Algae clogs up waterways without much help from humans so it may not take much energy input to get alot of energy output.

Quite right. It will go on as long as we are threatened by terrorists.

American foreign policy is equivalent to kicking the hornets nest, so I imagine the US will keep breeding enemies for the rest of its existence.

That could very well be. Of course the solution is to eliminate hornets in the entirety.
