Why when mentioning other countries bad human rights

Why is it when ever someone mentions or complains about the bad human rights act of another poorer country, someone on the forum says "Oh I suppose you think Americans are perfect then" "you know westerners do that too" and give a list of similar things western govts have done. I could understand if it was a to person who had a record of being hypocritical and painting the west as perfect and others as inferior, but they say it to anyone who problems in another country. Why can't someone be concerned about both, bad acts of USA and all oppressive countries, why would you pick a side and only critisise the country you don't like. We're all flawed humans, I don't think people from poorer countries are inherently wise and superior or only capable of doing wrong if pushed into it by bad treatment from the USA.

It's usually because they are people that want to run America down.

The US and the UK have problems with their human rights records but I'd sure as hell rather live here than in some totalitarian Taliban controlled toilet.

I don't understand the arguement, like because another country does bad things, one country shouldn't be pointed at. You wouldnt have someone arrested and saying "well my neighbour does burgularies too" and the police say "oh well if your not the only one doing it we'll let you go then".

What they're probably trying to say is that you should sort out your own country because trying to fix others.

Freedom of the various countries is relative. Some are freer than others. In a relatively free country it is more likely to be able to correct human rights abuses than in countries that are tightly controlled or outright tyrannies run by thugs who are not in anyway constrained by Law.

Keep in mind there are no good governments. Only bad government and worse government.

Human societies are created and run by human beings who are advanced primates. Primates are among the vilest creatures that ever were. In the case of humans our vileness is compounded by our intelligence.

There is a darkness in the human makeup and it will always be their regardless of government and regardless of law and custom.
