Several websites are proclaiming that Judgment Day (as foretold in the Bible) will occur on May 21st, 2011. Just Google "Judgment Day" and they'll be among the top 10 hits.

Assuming that they are right, this poses a few questions:

- What is going to happen to planes in flight when the cockpit crew disappears?

- What is going to happen to patients in surgury when the surgical staff disappears?

- What is going to happen to prison inmates when their guards disappear?

- What is going to happen to infants when their parents disappear?

- What is going to happen to all those drug, gun, liquor, and porn stashes when their owners disappear?

There is going to be a lot of neat stuff left behind, and one heckuva party on May 22nd...

What will the out-of-work guards do when the converted inmates disappear?

May 21st will be the anniversary of my birth; great timing for the beginning of the hereafter, eh?!

Doesn't the bible also say that no mortals will know when judgement day will occur?

No gathering at Adam-ondi-Ahman, no second coming, no millennial reign of Christ!
So its don't pass go & go straight to Judgement day? :?

You know, when I first heard about these people rolling about in their Caravan of Gloating (what else could it be? They maintain that all of the Elect were chosen at the beginning of time, nobody else can get it, and there's no salvation for anyone else, so why would they be telling everyone except to gloat?), a thought occurred to me:

Jesus said that nobody gets to know when He is going to return.

Since then, there's practically been a cottage industry in predicting His return, starting, apparently, about a century after His "death".

This leads to a mental image of Jesus looking down from on high, and saying, "You think I'm returning then? Fine, that's the one time I won't!"

This would mean that as long as we have people predicting the end of the world, the world will never end!!

EVERY day is judgement day.

As for the shutdown, prediction is futile and absurd.

It does. It says that "not even the Son, but only the Father" knows when it will occur.

People really need to stop reading Left Behind and basing their apocalypse fantasies off of it

I think it is possible some folks might be quite surprised if "left behind" actually turns out to be the better deal!

Question: Once all evil has been destroyed, who or what actually has been "left behind"?

According to my notes from Eschatology class:

1. The coming of Christ will be a reversal of His ascension. "Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven'." -- Acts 1:9-11

2. The coming of Christ will be instantaneous, and with global effects. "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." -- Matthew 24:27

3. The coming of Christ will be visible to all. "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." -- Matthew 24:30

4. The coming of Christ will be audible. "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." -- Matthew 24:31

5. The resurrection of the righteous will occur. "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first." -- 1 Thessalonians 4:16

6. In one single event, the saved who are alive at Christ's coming will be caught up together with the resurrected to meet the Lord in the air. "Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." -- 1 Thessalonians 4:17

7. Human life will cease to exist on earth for a period of time. "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up." -- 2 Peter 3:10

...

So when May 21st comes and goes without any Apocalyptic events, the fundies will be unable to say that it was a purely 'spiritual' happening, unless they want to contradict their own Bible - the same one they used to predict the Day of Judgment in the first place!
