Yet another political identification quiz, with two axes ("left/right" and "pragmatism/idealism").

Quote:
Principal axes
The table below shows your position in the two dimensional space defined by the principal axes of the data. There's more information about how this is calculated here. Note that the names "left/right" and "pragmatism" are simply labels and should be interpreted with caution. Positive values on the "left/right" axis are "right-wing", and negative values are "left-wing". Positive values on the "pragmatism" axis are "pragmatic" or "utilitarian". Negative values are the opposite, which is referred to, rather approximately, as "idealistic" below. Use the list of statements to find out exactly what the axes do mean.

The variation in the data on the "left/right" axis is much greater than the variation on the "pragmatism" axis. The most extreme values on on either axis are ±16.6132. The table below shows your position in both "raw" and normalised (between -1 and 1) coordinates.

Axis Position
1 left/right -8.9174 (-0.5368)
2 pragmatism +0.6656 (+0.0401)

I don't even think this quiz is remotely accurate, they put Stalin and Hitler way to close to right Center (and Stalin should actually be on the left not the right).

I think the quiz should separate the social and economic spectrums along with a pragmatism/idealism scale for each.

For what its worth, here is what I got:
+4.3523 (+0.2620)
+3.0967 (+0.1864)

I'm near Margaret Thatcher.

I've seen the survey questions and many of them are extreme misrepresentations of conservatives/liberals.
One does not have to always support authority 100% or want compulsory military service for youths to be conservative.
One does not have to oppose religion or the law to be liberal.

I almost hit dead center, whatever that might mean ...

Axis Position
1 left/right +0.2891 (+0.0174)
2 pragmatism +0.0378 (+0.0023)

Yeah I suspect that's why I've been put so close to the centre on the left/right spectrum when I should be between the Y axis and Margaret Thatcher.

Yeah that would be a lot better.

The test puts me as a pragmatic leftist. Agreed with the prior comments about the dubious nature of several of the questions.

Hitler and Stalin were both syncretic (drawing radical ideas from both left and right) so it is often hard to pin them very clearly with a single point on any conceivable political axis. Naive averages of their stances/policies will often put them surprisingly close to the alleged "center." As to Stalin, I'm guessing it was his nationalism and authoritarianism that put him on the right, although I'm surprised his opposition to religion didn't cancel that out.

1 left/right -5.1543 (-0.3103)
2 pragmatism -0.7042 (-0.0424)

to the right of charles Kennedy
the pragmatic/idealist dimension seems to be very small.

It does have tricky questions

Do you agree with "A and not B"? when I believe it should be both "A and B", and disagreeing with it, will render my answer as agreeing with "not A and B", which I don't.

Hmm.... I am the most pragmatic person so far, and have a slight left-wing lean.

Pragmatic Left? Really? I have Libertarian Ideals, wouldn't that put me at Idealistic Right?
