I'd just like bring to attention the tragedy of Cajun country, which will be flooded to protect cities lower down in Louisiana. I've paid quite a bit of attention to the controlled flooding in Manitoba (in part because the whole situation is to some extent related to the fact a massive floodway protects the city I live in while floodingother areas), but I'm amazed at how the situation in Southwestern Manitoba pales in comparison to Cajun country (in Manitoba, 150 homes in a 225 km squared area may be flooded, in Cajun country over 7, 700 square kilometres and 11,000 homes may be flooded).

What is so strident about THAT neat design?

I had not heard of this - encounter similar things elsewhere over the years.

That is democracy in action - if you prefer, normal human values at work.

Not in my back yard is a basic principle.

Where are they going to put the refugees, and is it likely they will get to go back?
