This thread is dedicated to giving room for the voting population to tell us what issues they believe are most important for their choice of Strident Atheist. This way candidates can construct platforms to really address the core issues involved here. Please step up and let us know what you want to know about the candidates views in the relevant issues of philosophy, religion, science, society, etc. I already have some idea of what I would promote, BUT, I want feedback for my platform.

A poll might be introduced later.

I think a good issue is Science and Science advocacy.

I agree. Particularly in the case of the person who first proposed these sorts of elections, and who openly supported a homeopath Marxist. I mean, that guy has serious problems, both in mental health and in personal character. I think we all know that I am talking about M_P here, as he continues to tarnish our reputation with bad arguments, outright delusions, misrepresentation of candidates, and his ardent Catholic faith.

Also, M_P hates science(why else would he support a homeopath Marxist?), and kicks puppies.

Phew. So long as there's no kitten-kicking.

Interesting "Marxist" is implied to be insult, though.

That's because the viciously anti-Canadian right-libertarian extremist AG wants to NARROW THE WP STRIDENT ATHEISTS POLITICAL TENT with help from faux liberal and Hyper-Calvinist witch-hunter Orwell.

Actually, the real kicker was homeopath, it is just that the poster is known for being a Marxist. That being said, even though there may be some things of value in a Marxian analysis, being a full-on Marxist is not as respectable as it used to be.

Having Issues topic

I propose changing the name of this forum to PPS (Politics, Philosophy and Science). Then the Religio Relics can go elsewhere. :P

AG & MP, y'all should get a room.
This sexual tension has reached a epic proportions
and is making some people (and by "some people", I mean, of course, "me") all hot and bothered.

~sigh~ All right, under pain of not being prudish.

What's the "safe" word?

Well, Marxism is kind of a relic. It doesn't even make much sense at all outside the context of the 19th-century world where it existed in reaction to the excesses of the Industrial Revolution. I kind of doubt that even Marx would be a Marxist if he were around today.

Uh, I don't quite think it's as outdated as you think. There has been quite a bit of hardening of class divisions in recent years under financial capitalism, even if worker's wealth is getting better in "absolute" terms (real wages have been stagnate for years, though). Marx, if I understand correctly, was also one of the few people to emphasis "technological advancement" as a core element of economics and thought that corporations would take "capitalism to the next level" (he was right).
