Well, Orwell is known for debating vegans. Sometimes, though, his hatred of non-meat diets is compromised by irrationality. Are these really qualities we expect in our Most STRIDENT Atheist?

Forgive my typo. Thank you for pointing it out. In caps. Most constructive.
Have you ever heard the term "withdrawal"?

Not entirely convenience.
I thought that was some sort of acronym, actually. Hencce my confusion.
Food is not a drug; I doubt withdrawal really applies.

And as people can be psychologically dependent on food, even food that isn't officially considered a "drug" can still entail withdrawal.

So, is this type of irrational, counterfactual, and logically unsound thinking the type of stuff we expect from our Most Strident Atheist? I think not!

What about someone who misspells "reasoning" as "reasining" in the poll? Do we want somebody who can't spell representing the Strident Atheists? Good spelling is one of the distinguishing traits between some religious fanatics and atheist fanatics. An atheist with poor spelling blurs that distinction.

Also, the options available for the poll seem strangely biased for some reason (reasin?)

I'm sorry, sir, but unlike some people I value logical correctness over correct spelling and I'm pretty sure it was Vista screwing up rather than an error on my part. And I'm pretty bloody mad at whoever voted in this poll before I could edit it.

As a good speller, I have to agree with this criticism. Although spelling isn't the only criterion we would want from a person. M_P's ongoing and persistent typos really reveal him as a substandard mind. Given that he is substandard, we really have to ask ourselves whether we want someone substandard, or ABOVE standard, and the latter is what we want and need. I am the candidate that is above the standard, and who represented high quality in this entire arena.

Grammar is not spelling! Keep up! You don't want to add poor reading comprehension to your list of failings!! :P

Besides, in a world full of spell check, you actually don't have an excuse. Bad grammar doesn't have all of the same aids. So, I am just saying that you don't actually care about whether other people can read and understand you, M_P. Do we really want a candidate that hates his voters so much that he is willing to be incomprehensible to them? I mean, what's a reasin?

Thank you for the defense of sanity and proper spelling, Mr. Bicycling Guitarist. Would you like to join my campaign? Although I am not a skilled guitarist like yourself, I do enjoy cycling and I play trombone, so we are both bicycling musicians.

It looks like many of the people here lack basic reading comprehension. If they possessed it they`d realize it was a glitch in VISTA, not M_P.

And, AG, mistakes in grammar are worse than mistakes in spelling as it indicates difficulties in understanding the formal structure of language. Incidentally, the fact that my blood sugar level is very high also contributes to any intellectual errors I`m making right now.

Because Vista explains all of the other mistakes? :P

Ah, but mistakes in spelling also are indicators of a lack of regard. Grammar errors, are less relevant. They are only relevant in as much as they interfere with the transmission of ideas, as after all, grammar mistakes are not issues as easily corrected. In any case, I might actually have above average grammar anyway. So... this admission might not even matter. (I don't know what would be considered a good test for this, but the ACT and SAT have moved towards an area where Grammar is tested, and I did perform above average on said area for both exams.)

That you are still using such a flawed piece of technology as Windows Vista should disqualify you from the race outright.

It looks like the gang of Orwellians are trying to divert the attention of voters from the VERY CLEAR AND PATHOLOGICAL IRRATIONALITY OF ORWELL. Shame on you all! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

M_P, I think it is a problem when your closest competition for strident atheism is openly a theist.

As one poster frequently states, intelligence does not necessarily entail above average rationality.
