Classic democrat scare tactic

Ryan's plan is about as unambitious as possible. 50 years to balance the budget? There won't be a country in 50 years.

This is just ridiculous. You criticize and lambaste EVERY OTHER GOVERNMENT PROGRAM, REGARDLESS OF MERIT, yet your medicare is defended? ruveyn, maybe I am wrong, but this seems like hypocrisy. I mean, if nearly everything else the government does is theft, then taking my money away to give it to some sick old fart is as much theft as anything else. And if that's acceptable, then why not the rest? I mean, is the line whether you benefit or not from a program? Obviously not, and if you are of the opinion that it is, then that's a stronger case for ending medicare than any case I could ever imagine, as I have no reason to care to support an outright hypocritical old fool.

I dunno, maybe I am being uncharitable by thinking you hold to the video, however, in context, that's what most posters mean if they only post a video in lieu of text.

Looking more and more, like Obama may be re-elected. Unless that changes, there's no chance we'll see it within the next five years. I doubt if Republicans had control now that they would even allow such an idea to be proposed. Easy to propose it when, you know you can't pass it. Get's the people excited that are for it, without imposing too much immediate concern for those that oppose it.

I suspect the Republicans will lose a lot of "ruveyn voters" who think most tax dollars go to bums but get really upset when the state decides to remove their own safety net with draconian, cost-cutting measures.

The video is funny 'cause it's true.

The Republican Party is the party of HMO Death Panels.

That's what happens when you go out of your way to slash relatively inexpensive programs that benefit the poor rather than taking on the Corporate Welfare Bums of America.

Wow, Obama has more moments of competent talking points than I give him credit for.

Well one could pair those cost cutting measures with tax increases as well. Pair Obama's plan for prosperity with Paul Ryan's plan for prosperity, and wherein Ryan's will still leave us with a budget deficit, tax-increases can make up for the rest and to support some programs that help most Americans agree to support - note... Americans should vote on whether to support with their tax dollars certain programs or not (including our military budget).

That is a compromise that most Americans would be willing to vote for. Neither party is, sadly, willing to be that voice for reason and support that.

I'm just guessing, but I doubt Ruevyn has a problem with privatization of Medicare. Or, privatization of anything else the government does except for a few core responsibilities. I also like his presentation of a video without inferring a judgement. When a judgement is presented on the topic of a discussion it often molds a discussion.

Case in point, a topic on posted in general discussion on a letter posted on Autism Speaks Facebook page ended up as a strong pro and con conversation, because a few people entered in and presented the opposing view. Whereas another topic recently presented titled do you like Autism Speaks and why, brought almost exclusive negative opinions.

Reuvyn is getting a wide range of answers that he might not have gotten, if he said this video is cr*p. Not surprising that some are guessing that he is in agreement with the video because, we are aware of his age. A natural bias from what we ourselves understand about older people and their general satisfaction with Medicare.

You have THREE choices here!

1. RUN IT INTO THE GROUND, which is what is being done! Even ***I*** won't be able to see it, and I am older than many of YOU!

2. Make the cuts, and MAYBE keep it viable!

3. DIE before it runs out, and DAMN all those still alive!

OK, you don't want Option #2, so you are telling OTHERS to pay for YOU with no hope of ever seeing it. So WHY should THEY care about YOU!?!?

BTW Medicare didn't help my mother! She EVEN had to go on medicaid. With a good doctor, etc... maybe she wouldn't have dementia. MAN, is it sorry!
