Anyone who prefers the sexual companionship of one gender over the other has committed discrimination. Should we throw such people in jail?

What you call discrimination, I call preference.

1. The USA should pass a Constitutional amendment that would make it illegal to discriminate in any situation solely on the basis of sex.
Agree – Women should be as eligible for the Draft as any man, and be just as eligible to be assigned to front-line infantry.

2. The national government should establish a federally funded medical program so that all persons would have equal access to medical services.
Neutral.

3. It should be legal and constitutional to say a prayer at the beginning of assemblies in public schools.
It already is. It is illegal only for a public employee to lead those prayers, and a case can be made that praying to only the Christian god is unconstitutional. Either allow prayers to any god, or make it unconstitutional for congress to pass any law respecting an institution of religion ... Oh, wait ... it's already been done!

4. Persons should be allowed to join and serve in the military regardless of their sexual preference as long as their behavior meets strict military standards.
Agree – However, once caught en flagrante dilecto, both people should be tried for adultery, dereliction of duty, fraternization, and Article #134 of the UCMJ regardless of gender, rank, or orientation.

5. A person should be able to use marijuana in the privacy of their own home with no legal consequences.
Agree – Provided the marijuana is as regulated and taxed as tobacco and alcohol.

6. Persons receiving the death penalty should be limited in the number of appeals and the sentence should be carried out in a shorter time period than it is now.
Disagree – If an appeal can be made to overturn the conviction, or to mitigate the sentence, then the person should be allowed to do so.

7. The Supreme Court should reverse its decision on abortion and make it more difficult to have an abortion except in special cases.
Neutral – I'm a male. If I need an abortion, that is a very special case, indeed!

8. The USA should require one year of military training for all qualified persons to prepare for the defense of our country if needed.
Disagree – It should be two years, then one weekend a month and one week per year for the next 20 years.

9. Parents should be able to send their students to any school they choose and tax money should be used to support the schools that parents choose.
Agree / Disagree – Parents should be able to send their children to any school they choose, but only at the parents' expense. Otherwise, the default should be free public education.

10. City police should be able to confiscate any materials that are deemed to be obscene or pornographic according to community standards.
Disagree – The police should not be empowered to enforce religious morality.

11. The federal government should be required to have a balanced budget regardless of programs that might have to be cut.
Agree – There is too much government as it is. Let's eliminate all foreign aid while we're at it.

12. Laws should be passed that limit the sale of certain types of weapons that are not used for hunting or other legitimate sporting purposes.
Disagree – If such weapons are are outlawed, then outlaws will manufacture, transport, sell, and posses similar weapons in a very short time.

13. Sex education should be in the curriculum of all public schools and all students should be required to take the class unless exempted by parents.
Disagree – There should be no exemptions.

14. Student lockers should be searched on a random basis for illegal materials by police and/or school officials.
Agree – It was done in my day, and it should be done now. Of course, there are always other places to hide contraband besides a school locker.

15. The President should be able to use the armed forces in possible combat areas for as long as he/she deems necessary without permission from Congress.
Disagree – We should never use military force to meddle in the affairs of other nations.

16. Laws should be passed to make it legal for public employees such as the police, fireman, teachers, and garbage collectors to go on strike.
Disagree – The threat of a strike is sometimes the only threat that management will take seriously.

17. Public schools should be required to teach biblical creationism in all classes that teach evolution theory.
HELL NO!! ! Creationist mythology should not be taught in secular schools unless evolution science becomes a required class in all religious institutions as well.

18. The USA should require temporary sterilization of all unmarried women on welfare if they have more than two illegitimate children.
Disagree – This would remove a woman's right to reproductive choice; if such a woman wants to be a lifetime baby factory, then let her.

19. Birth Control information and non-prescription contraceptive devices should be made available on high school campuses.
Agree – This is where most teens spend most of their waking hours anyway.

20. Evidence that is obtained through unconstitutional but honest and unintentional means should be admissible in court and be used against a suspect.
Agree – It already is.

21. There should be occasional and random drug testing of federal government employees.
Agree – Anyone that pops positive gets kicked to the curb immediately.

22. Requirements for any military duty, including combat, should be based on physical, emotional, and intellectual abilities with no reference to gender.
Agree – Send the women to the front lines!

23. If two equally qualified persons apply for a job and one of them is a minority, the minority person should be hired if the employer has had a record of past discrimination.
Disagree – Hiring a white man because of his race is racism; hiring a black man because of his race is racism.

24. Certain literature should be banned from city libraries if it is determined to be improper or too controversial by the librarian or a book review board.
Disagree – First, it's censorship, then banning books, then burning books, then arresting writers for seditious writings.

25. It is a person's right of free speech under the First Amendment to burn an American flag in protest if it does not endanger anyone.
Agree – Just as it's my right to physically intervene and save the American flag.

26. As a general directive, the federal budget should spend less on the military and more on health and education programs.
Neutral – The budget on such thing should have a fixed percentage of all monies collected from taxes.

27. The USA should impose economic sanctions on any nation with a history of human rights violations or racial discrimination.
Disagree – We need their natural resources.

28. All persons planning to be married should have a mandatory AIDS test before a marriage certificate can be issued.
Agree – It already happens.

29. The ACLU and similar groups that take many cases to court claiming constitutional rights have been violated usually cause more problems than they solve.
Agree – The ACLU seems less concerned with people's rights than with free publicity.

30. The USA should try to find an energy alternative to nuclear power and stop the construction and use of nuclear generating plants as soon as possible.
Agree – It's already being done.

31. The death penalty is clearly a form of cruel and unusual punishment and should be banned.
Disagree – The only sure way to eliminate repeat offenders is to execute them.

32. Sexual harassment of women in the workplace is a serious problem and should be prosecuted under the law.
Disagree - Sexual harassment of both men and women in the workplace is a serious problem and should be prosecuted under the law.

33. The main function of prisons should be to rehabilitate criminals, not punish them.
Disagree – Criminals can not be rehabilitated.

34. The states should abolish criminal penalties for gambling, prostitution, and other victimless crimes.
Agree – But the states should more aggressively pursue any tax evasion from these practices.

35. The FBI and CIA should be able to wiretap the phones and read the mail of suspected criminals, terrorists, and radicals.
Agree – If you do nothing wrong, then you have nothing to worry about.

36. The federal government must take strong steps to protect the environment even if it means the loss of some jobs.
Neutral – Right now, people need jobs.

37. Most adults on welfare are lazy and do not want to work.
Agree.

38. Profanity and sexually oriented material on television should be stopped or penalized by the government.
Disagree – Profanity and violent material on television should be stopped or penalized by the government.

39. The United States must stop the flow of immigrants, both documented and undocumented, from Latin American and the Caribbean.
Disagree – Only the illegals should be stopped.

40. High school students should have the right to hear speakers from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance without interference from school administrators.
Disagree – Recruitment can wait until after graduation.

I tallied my score, and I believe it's a -58.

1. The USA should pass a Constitutional amendment that would make it illegal to discriminate in any situation solely on the basis of sex.
Disagree. Most of the time, there's nothing wrong with discrimination.

2. The national government should establish a federally funded medical program so that all persons would have equal access to medical services.
Agree.

3. It should be legal and constitutional to say a prayer at the beginning of assemblies in public schools.
Agree, it should be legal. Schools would operate very differently if I were king, though.

4. Persons should be allowed to join and serve in the military regardless of their sexual preference as long as their behavior meets strict military standards.
Agree.

5. A person should be able to use marijuana in the privacy of their own home with no legal consequences.
Agree. People should be able to use whatever drugs they want.

6. Persons receiving the death penalty should be limited in the number of appeals and the sentence should be carried out in a shorter time period than it is now.
N/A - the death penalty should be abolished.

7. The Supreme Court should reverse its decision on abortion and make it more difficult to have an abortion except in special cases.
Disagree. Abortion should be legal all the way to birth (and beyond, in some cases).

8. The USA should require one year of military training for all qualified persons to prepare for the defense of our country if needed.
Disagree.

9. Parents should be able to send their students to any school they choose and tax money should be used to support the schools that parents choose.
Disagree. Private schools should be allowed to refuse whoever they want for whatever reasons they want.

10. City police should be able to confiscate any materials that are deemed to be obscene or pornographic according to community standards.
Disagree.

11. The federal government should be required to have a balanced budget regardless of programs that might have to be cut.
Disagree.

12. Laws should be passed that limit the sale of certain types of weapons that are not used for hunting or other legitimate sporting purposes.
Disagree.

13. Sex education should be in the curriculum of all public schools and all students should be required to take the class unless exempted by parents.
Agree. Sex education is the only course that should be mandatory. Apart of sex education, compulsory education and national curriculums should be abolished.

14. Student lockers should be searched on a random basis for illegal materials by police and/or school officials.
Disagree.

15. The President should be able to use the armed forces in possible combat areas for as long as he/she deems necessary without permission from Congress.
Disagree.

16. Laws should be passed to make it legal for public employees such as the police, fireman, teachers, and garbage collectors to go on strike.
Agree.

17. Public schools should be required to teach biblical creationism in all classes that teach evolution theory.
Disagree. I don't have a problem with schools providing courses on creationism, but it shouldn't be taught as part of science. If an idea is nearly unanimously rejected by the scientific community, it's ridiculous for pupils to learn about it in the science classroom. They can learn about it in a 'religion' course, or in an 'alternative theories' course, or something (and none of those courses - science, religion, or alternative theories - should be forced on anybody).

18. The USA should require temporary sterilization of all unmarried women on welfare if they have more than two illegitimate children.
Disagree.

19. Birth Control information and non-prescription contraceptive devices should be made available on high school campuses.
Agree.

20. Evidence that is obtained through unconstitutional but honest and unintentional means should be admissible in court and be used against a suspect.
Agree.

21. There should be occasional and random drug testing of federal government employees.
Disagree.

22. Requirements for any military duty, including combat, should be based on physical, emotional, and intellectual abilities with no reference to gender.
Agree.

23. If two equally qualified persons apply for a job and one of them is a minority, the minority person should be hired if the employer has had a record of past discrimination.
Disagree. People should be allowed to refuse to employ whoever they want, for whatever reasons they want.

24. Certain literature should be banned from city libraries if it is determined to be improper or too controversial by the librarian or a book review board.
Disagree.

25. It is a person's right of free speech under the First Amendment to burn an American flag in protest if it does not endanger anyone.
Agree.

26. As a general directive, the federal budget should spend less on the military and more on health and education programs.
Agree.

27. The USA should impose economic sanctions on any nation with a history of human rights violations or racial discrimination.
Slightly disagree.

28. All persons planning to be married should have a mandatory AIDS test before a marriage certificate can be issued.
Disagree.

29. The ACLU and similar groups that take many cases to court claiming constitutional rights have been violated usually cause more problems than they solve.
Not sure.

30. The USA should try to find an energy alternative to nuclear power and stop the construction and use of nuclear generating plants as soon as possible.
Disagree.

31. The death penalty is clearly a form of cruel and unusual punishment and should be banned.
It should be banned, but I'm not sure I'd consider 'cruel and unusual'.

32. Sexual harassment of women in the workplace is a serious problem and should be prosecuted under the law.
Some of it should, some of it shouldn't. It depends on how loosely we're using the term 'sexual harassment'. There's a lot of things most people call sexual harassment that I wouldn't.

33. The main function of prisons should be to rehabilitate criminals, not punish them.
Agree, though I'd rather say that the main function of prisons should be rehabilitation, not retribution. Punishment is an important part of rehabilitation.

34. The states should abolish criminal penalties for gambling, prostitution, and other victimless crimes.
Agree.

35. The FBI and CIA should be able to wiretap the phones and read the mail of suspected criminals, terrorists, and radicals.
Disagree.

36. The federal government must take strong steps to protect the environment even if it means the loss of some jobs.
Agree.

37. Most adults on welfare are lazy and do not want to work.
Disagree.

38. Profanity and sexually oriented material on television should be stopped or penalized by the government.
Disagree.

39. The United States must stop the flow of immigrants, both documented and undocumented, from Latin American and the Caribbean.
Disagree. Open borders ftw.

40. High school students should have the right to hear speakers from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance without interference from school administrators.
Agree.

In combat situations where brute strength and muscle mass matter some, women would not be (on average) as well qualified. For other military roles where muscle strength is not a consideration women and men should be reckoned equally and judged purely on their ability to do the job.

There is no more fearsome fighter than a woman. All the field commander has to do is wait for his (or her) platoon to show signs of PMS, and then tell them, "You see those guys over there? They say that your uniforms make you all look like fat old cows..." and watch them run into battle.

None of you has done the math that the OP asked you to do.

Not that I blame any of you.

I was stuck with nothing to do on my job today so I was forced to waste time on the internet, and I actually went beyond listing my answers and actually tried to apply the numbers ... even when I was hard up for something to do I couldnt handle the tedium of the task of scoring each response ( is answer nine a negative four or a postive four?). And I never got to the adding up stage.

The OP should really try to streamline this test somehow if wants to get these numerical scores.

Hey, I tallied up my score!

The problem is, I don't know what my score means.

The problem is, I don't know what my score means.

maybe ill go back over it again.
I think the score is 'spose to show how left vs right you are, or something like that.

One thing that puzzles me is that the "slightly" agree/disagree responses are assigned more extreme numbers (negative or positive) than the simple "agree/disagree answers. The opposite of what youd expect. Maybe the OP mean to say "strongly" instead of "slightly".

*I don't know how I should streamline the test.
*I messed up, it should be strongly
*But the numerics are still the same
*Negative numbers are the left....consequentially, positive it the right
*Anywhere past 60 on either side would be strongly
*Anywhere past 100 on either side would be extremely
*Anywhere in the middle from 30 to 0 to -30 is moderate

1. The USA should pass a Constitutional amendment that would make it illegal to discriminate in any situation solely on the basis of sex.

Disagree. There should be no constitutional amendment.

Agree.

Agree.

6. Persons receiving the death penalty should be limited in the number of appeals and the sentence should be carried out in a shorter time period than it is now.

I think it should be carried out quicker but I'm not sure about limiting appeals.

7. The Supreme Court should reverse its decision on abortion and make it more difficult to have an abortion except in special cases.

Slightly agree, I don't think it should of ever made the decision.

8. The USA should require one year of military training for all qualified persons to prepare for the defense of our country if needed.

Disagree.

9. Parents should be able to send their students to any school they choose and tax money should be used to support the schools that parents choose.

Slight agree, I'm not an expert on this but maybe something like tax credits. I dunno. I think parents should be able their kids where ever they want.

Disagree.

Agree.

Disagree. Should be up to the individual schools and nobody should be required to take anything.

14. Student lockers should be searched on a random basis for illegal materials by police and/or school officials.

Neutral. It's up the school, it's their property.

15. The President should be able to use the armed forces in possible combat areas for as long as he/she deems necessary without permission from Congress.

Disagree.

16. Laws should be passed to make it legal for public employees such as the police, fireman, teachers, and garbage collectors to go on strike.

Disagree.

21. There should be occasional and random drug testing of federal government employees.

Disagree.

SD. The Constitution already provides protection towards people. Discrimination is already illegal in law and the equality of persons is already established. You will not fix a society with redundant laws.

SD. Equal, no; basic and life saving, yes.

Agree with the first half, not the second.

Not sure.

SD, there are no exceptions to a constitution, it kind of defeats the point of having one.

The United States Government reserves the right to determine people's method of entry. It should accept migration but has a right to police illegal migration.

chrissyrun wrote:

It depends.

Sorry, am used to surveys where SA = Strongly Agree.

Sorry, I meant strongly...I was tried that day.
