Atheists and skeptics now have equal access to our children as we have, which is why the number of Christian youth who believe in the fundamentals of Christianity is decreasing and sexual immorality is growing, apologist Josh McDowell said.

“What has changed everything?” asked the apologist from Campus Crusade for Christ International as he spoke on “Unshakable Truth, Relevant Faith” at the Billy Graham Center in Asheville, N.C., Friday evening. His answer was, the Internet.

McDowell, who lives in southern California with his wife Dottie and four children, said atheists, agnostics and skeptics didn’t have access to kids earlier. “If they wrote books, not many people read it. If they gave a talk, not many people went. They would normally get to kids maybe in the last couple of years of the university.” But that has changed now.

Around 15 years ago, the apologist added, when Christian youth ministries were raising money for youth projects, the big phrase was, “If you don’t reach your child by their 18th birthday, you probably won’t reach them.” What is it now? “If you do not reach your child by their 12th birthday, you probably won’t reach them.”

The Internet is weakening Christian witness and “we better wake up to it because it’s just beginning.” McDowell added that his greatest asset, value-wise, used to be his time until a year and a half ago. “My greatest asset now is my focus. There is so much out there just one click away, what am I going to focus on?”

The cartoon is inoffensive [I at least have no problems with images intended to suggest Muhammad on whom if possible peace]. It is a bit dumb. Almost as dumb as the self-styled Christians of Pooh-size brain and sub-mustard seed faith who think and say that samizdat can be a threat to the homeschooled. It is so utterly stupid - an idea worthy of a PPR sub-atheist [Alpha and Beta Atheistr here are not that dumb - to think that Christ who has overcome the world and Christianity which has survived massive waves of banner waving propaganda [wait - that has to be wrong, what is the OPPOSITE of propagate?] - oh - say disinformation - could be vanquished by opposing words.

In any case, it is not the Evangelical Maloverniki who have to fear web based samizdat. Besides the State - all governments and all organizations are threatened by media they do not control - there is the Educational Directorate.

I have walked into public libraries in a variety of towns [if anyone doubts the libraries and the schools are of one heart if not mind, we can talk] and seen bold displays proclaiming their unbending opposition to the evil forces of censorship, showing how they fearlessly stock and promote books the demonically inpired would ban - books with pandererbear passages and antireligious remarks and expressions of unconventional family and gender values.

And I walk further in and see that in their anticensor zeal they have removed books which push politically incorrect values, theism and the power of independent thought and happy traditinal families.

No, They have not cleared the shelves, exactly, but certain books are backrounded and moved to storage and not replaced when olkd - or not acquired by the library at all.

Samizdat is a threat to mind control, nae doot. But think not that fascists and Evangelical maloverniki are the ONLY would be mind controllers.

First, it's an anachronism; a juxtaposition of two conflicting images that would otherwise be separated by time - a 12th-century Saracen wearing a Seiko wristwatch, for example.

Second, it's the cartoonist's opinion of Heaven; that is, even the highest-level prophets spend eternity watching TV, eating haram / trefe / junk food, and arguing over whose turn it is to smite unbelievers.

Third, in the cartoon, the television seems to be how the prophets keep track of events on Earth.

Finally, it's humor, and the more it is explained, the less funny it becomes.
