Seriously, what gives? How can these people live their lives ignoring science to suit a bronze-aged book? I know they are bad in the U.S. but what about other countries, I've noticed they are trying to infect New Zealand children so perhaps they are doing the same elsewhere..

Creationists are everywhere.

How can these people live their lives ignoring science to suit a bronze-aged book? Easily; just look around the various forums on this website alone, especially when the topic is ghosts, UFOs, or psychics. Not only will they deny science, but they will embrace lies as truth, and reject any suggestion that they provide valid material evidence to support their claims.

It seems that they simply prefer passive ignorance over active learning.

First of all, not all Creationists are Christian. Second, what makes you think believing in creation means you ignore science?

Please educate yourselves.

Believing in creationism means that you accept the validity of creationism on faith alone.

Science requires evidence; valid, material evidence.

Faith proves nothing.

I don't need to educate myself. I know quite a few different creation stories and am very scientifically minded... for the tangible world.

Science does not negate spiritual/religious thoughts and beliefs unless those thoughts and beliefs directly contradict scientific findings. As of yet, there is no scientific data suggesting there is no creator.

You don't?..... well, Creationist usually refers to the biblical literalists that hold the literal 6 days creation belief, so that is what a creationist is refered to usually and definitely that is what this thread is about, you seem to be arguing in favor for theistic evolution, but that is not what this thread is about. Science does not negate spiritual/religious thoughts and beliefs unless those thoughts and beliefs directly contradict scientific findings. As of yet, there is no scientific data suggesting there is no creator.


Scientific information deals with what is, not with what is not. There is no evidence that a creator exists and the deeper information gets about the universe the more the lack of evidence is discovered for the necessity of a creator.

Actually, it's Intelligent Design that refers specifically to Christianity. But please go on. :-D

There is no evidence there is no creator, either. The fact is, we have no idea how the universe was created. Some choose to rely solely on scientific findings, but many others find that lacking in depth and meaning.

Actually, it's Intelligent Design that refers specifically to Christianity. But please go on. :-D

Intelligent Design is pretty much, Creationism in disguise, it was coined by creationists.
Creationism (young earth and old earth creationism) and theistic evolution refer to Christianity.

By Occam's Razor one can infer that most likely there is no creator, given the lack of evidence and that mystical beliefs have been proved to be crap, the typical idea and concepts of a creator are questionable.

Um... no. No evidence of a creator =/= evidence of no creator. Furthermore, just because lots of religious/spiritual beliefs have been disproven doesn't mean all have.

Science deals with what is perceived, not with imaginative proposals. When evidence of a creator is perceived I'm sure science will deal with that data.
