My wife's Chevy was broken into yet again I found out today. The blasted thieves broke the glass of one window, damaged a door which now cannot close, ransacked the glove compartment and front of the car again, tried to hotwire the car and failed to get it to start but they also have destroyed the key insert while doing this as well as have drained the battery due to the damage on the one door causing it to stay open. I am really getting sick and tired of people who do this.

So, who on Earth would enjoy their car being rifled through and disabled by would-be car thieves? I remember Vexcalibur defending the "poor honest thief" meme or whatever it's called, saying that because they have a different opinion about stealing from other people that it's somehow acceptable? IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE no matter how much they internally justify their own actions in stealing and destroying the property of others.
There are poor honest people. There are no honest thieves. A thief is a parasite and must be strongly discouraged from laying his/her paws on other people's property. I favor flogging and the stocks. If necessary branding with red hot irons. And to make sure there is no incentive to steal there should be food, clothing and shelter available to anyone who is hungry, naked or homeless. And to make sure that there is no temptation to slacking and laziness we should make food -given- to the poor both nourishing and tasteless. If someone needs help not to starve to death, it is counter productive to deny that help, but we should make sure no one derives any joy from slacking off.

Well, it’s kinda hard to take a beret wearing monkey seriously.
btw, is there a Castle Doctrine in your state and does it apply to cars as well? There are no honest thieves. It is a mentality of selfishness, poor emotional and impulse control, and a belief in obtaining by any means necessary.

In answer to you question in the other thread, yes, it is where he's going on and on about how everything's arbitrary.

Calling property merely a "social construction" is to ameliorate the act of the removal of one's belongings without permission. If those who are unwilling to accept the concept of this "merely social construction" with regard to others were to have their own "mere social constructions" removed from them without permission I would be willing to bet that they wouldn't be too cheerful about people using their own philosophy upon them.

Property is a social construct. In past societies it was only immoral to steal from members of your own tribe. It was perfectly moral to raid and loot from opposing villages as long as doing so didn't violate a peace agreement between the villages. Even the Bible condones raiding and looting.

Okay, well if my neighbors want to make an official declaration of war and designate a battlefield first, alright. Prior to that, the wanton destruction of my property is really unappreciated.
