My mental-health doc and I are investigating the possibility of financial housing assistance from the American government. I don't mean government housing, but "disability" money to help pay apartment rent.

Does anyone have information web-links on this? PLEASE POST!! !

Its a good question. I've done a little investigation into this myself and I haven't found anything. If I didn't have relatives to help me I'd probably be eating in a soup kitchen and staying in a public shelter (which can be a dangerous place). The government probably doesn't provide much help to people in our category. They focus all their resources on people too stupid to get out of the way of a hurricane, and who then loot and vandalize their communities after the fact.

Anyhow, I haven't looked into every possibility so I can't rule out some type of assistance. Much of it has to do with connecting with the right people who are connected with the right people. State and local government is another avenue to look into. I believe some people here have qualified for SS payments.

Don't forget the idiot scammers who have nice homes elsewhere and con the FEMA guys into all-expense-paid trips to Hawaii!

Okay. Thanks. Just thought I'd ask around.
