In early America people were afraid of the British empire. They were uber religious because people tend to be uber religious when they are faced with an outside threat. They burned witches.

The Middle East is afraid of the American empire. They are uber religious. They stone adulterers.

Actually I'd say the Middle East is what the entire world will be like once our natural resorces have been depleted: Buildings will probably fall into disrepair, there will be explosions and fires everywhere, and crazed psychopaths will start killing each other claiming it's for a "good cause" when in reality they're keeping their true motives hidden and getting sadistic pleasure out of hurting and killing people regardless if they are a true enemy or not.

In fact I think a lot of those apocalyptic movies like the Mad Max series are eerily similar to what life is like in the Middle East and other Third World Countries right now.

That's a pretty weak argument.
