The cultural tendency among American Jews is to participate in things not primarily physical. Jews tend to be professionals, scholars, business people. However, as the above article shows, there are exceptions.

I was surprised to see how many Jewish boxers there were. Getting one's brains pounded on is not a typical Jewish tendency.

Yeah, once upon a time Jewish boxers weren't unusual. Just as there was a time when Jewish gangs and gangsters were around. Al Capone used to hire Jewish muscle to do some of his dirty work.

All back following periods of immigration when poor immigrants needed to make a buck. Before their children entered the professions in force.
