A set of videos partly related to the paedohysteria ones (particularly the second and third video - lack of male role models for young boys in school).

Much easier to stomach though, no need for "trigger warnings". Unless you're allergic to chauvinism.

Well, since both genders are equal in intellect, it must be a cultural phenomenon.

There's a nice rundown here.

While I agree with the main message that boys are now now becoming more disadvantaged at school, I think the message is a bit undermined in the first video by the spin they put on the history parts.

Not true. I think the point is that boys and girls brains work differently and they have different learning styles. That doesn't mean that either gender is generally smarter than the other one.

They didn't mention Lisa Simpson's favorite college course, "femistry".

The videos make good points about a flawed education system, but it's actually a real thing?

exactly. women tend to be smarter socially though, but both, when too much a hostage to their mind or their heart can do very foolish things. They are both equal and it depends more on the culture, the environment, and the instruction they receive, and how all these factors work with the react with the individual's gender, gender role, and/or learning style.

affirmative action for men:
http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2006/03/27/admit
http://www.mindingthecampus.com/origina ... men_i.html
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/pamela-kr ... 54384.html
quote:
At the College of William and Mary, admission rates for men were 40 percent in 2006, compared to just 26 percent for women. At Pomona College, the admissions rate for women was an average of 9 percent lower than that of men, while at Wheaton, it was a staggering 21 percent lower, U.S. News found.

What that means is young women who have worked hard to achieve may be passed over by lesser-qualified male applicants -- simply because of their gender.
...Overall, boys' academic performance hasn't declined (in fact, in many instances, it has improved). In addition, more men are attending college than ever before (and still are more likely to earn more and reach positions of power than their female counterparts.) The difference is that women's academic performance and college enrollment are improving at an even faster rate.

I suspect this will really separate who's really for/against affirmative action, vs. who's just for/against helping people like themselves.

For the record I am completely against affirmative action.

I'm not sure what's going on in America at the moment, but from a British perspective, it can't be said that women have caught up or plain overtaken boys. Educational standards have dropped hugely, GCSE exams/ A-Levels are much easier than they were a few decades ago (and as such are becoming the punchline of many a joke in international academic qualifications), the curriculums have decreased in size and on top of that grades are artificially inflated by government to hide the poor performance of pupils of both sexes. Girls may be doing better under the new system, but everyone loses in the long term.

Boys are more affected by sitting at a desk all day, and learn best when they can actually do projects where they build things, not just listen to a teacher droning about it.

Despite what feminists claim, they are not intellectually superior to their male counterparts, the intelligence level is about even, but the teaching style is now geared in a manner that doesn't fit the best learning style for boys one bit, (not really that good for girls either, but they can handle sitting at a desk all day better). Furthermore, there is a huge push for girls to be successful academics, while boys are being shoved by the wayside.

My experience is that women are smarter in average. Whereas boys have larger deviation. There are very smart guys out there, but for each of them, there are two idiots. Whereas for each smart woman, there is only one dumb one.

(Edit , in case you don't notice the Nah means the last paragraph was facetious) Nah, actually, note that the metrics discussed here are not for intelligence but for work put in class. It is likely because women are less likely to be utter lazy as they know what it is to want to have a chance and not get it, so when given a chance they use it better. Men should stop being crybabies and either work harder before the salaries of men and women become equal (THE HORROR!).

I hate building things . Maybe I am not a guy. Lol.

Stop projecting your own tastes into what boys are supposed to be.

Actually, if I had all the time in the world, with an age-less body and mind, and all the available ressources, I'd gladly keep learning until there's no end. I enjoy the stimulation from learning. :p But obviously, not everyone can be curious in nature.

You really don't have any clue about what learning styles are do you...
