White discrimination against other Whites ?

I know that it is a fact that discrimination against Non Whites causes Blacks Native Americans and others to live in poverty but everytime I bring this up a Right Winger will say well the Irish faced discrimination too or the Jews or the Slavs were enslaved at one time in history but this is White on White crime right the Irish were later accepted as part of the White Race by the Anglo Saxons is there any fact that I can give to show as to why discrimination by Whites against Non Whites is worse than discrimination by Whites against other Whites ? Does Tim Wise say anything about this subject ? I know White Privilege exist among the Irish.

What you need to speak about is white supremacy as a permanent organizing structure in the society. Discrimination is simply an enforcer to maintain white supremacy. So yes, it is used to keep both people of color and white people aware of the social hierarchy. So white supremacy created whiteness and accepted the Irish because the new white identity group needed a labor class.

The fun part is that a culture can be racist, xenophobic and Class-ist without breaking a sweat.

Discrimination has its heart in economics.

Poor white resent other "minorities" because try and get legal protection against discrimination as a white person. It doesn't exist. Maybe it's because you are Irish, or Italian, or Polish, or Catholic, etc. In truth, it is because you are not part of the economic elite in your area. If you can make a case on the basis of religion or ethnicity, you MIGHT have a chance of getting EOE laws to help you out, but the general mentality is that white people don't discriminate against other whites...even though it happens all the time.

I discriminate against whites whenever I buy something made in Asia, have a meal at a local Ethiopian restaurant, or listen to Bob Marley music. It is discriminatory to favor one ethnic group over another, right?

Today, class discrimination is the primary cause of white on white discrimination. But I have read plenty of accounts written by transplanted northerners living in the south, where a collective memory of the Civil war, and of the "Yankee invader" is still alive in well in the locals' minds, and they don't let said northerners forget it.

I deal with white on white discrimination on a fairly regular basis, as an Anglo Quebecer. This is based on language, despite the fact that I can speak French well enough, not having a French first and last name doesn't work in my favor in a lot of situations...
