Atheists, muslims, catholics, etc, etc, please dont post your comment or ideas or whatever in this thread as this is a question only to the salty/light christians here on wrong planet.

for those who dont know what a salty/light christian is

Salty Christian - one who does their best to live the lifestyle of Jesus's teachings (or at least something like that) and make others wonder therefore making ask you and once you start telling them the TRUE gospel from the bible then they get "thirsty" and go "drink" (seek) some water (bible/Jesus/word of god/whatever you want to call it because im not real sure how to put it. )

Light Christian - one who preaches the gospel. this could be a pastor or missionary....from what i found during my search. they also live the lifestyle Jesus taught....hopefully that makes sense.

anyway i wanted to ask the salty/light christian aspies if they ever think about god and logic. maybe even science and reasoning....and other stuff. like do you read the bible and also look up on the net some stuff that you may not understand? and are you persistent during your search? i wonder if there are some salty/light christian aspies that are kind of like me as well....since i never had a aspergian friend in real life that is.

Why don't you read a book called: Logic, or the Right Use of Reason in the Inquiry After Truth: With a Variety of Rules to Guard Against Error in the Affairs of Religion and Human Life, as Well As in the Sciences which was written by the Puritan author Isaac Watts who also wrote a few hymns which are still in use in a few churches even today.

I have never, ever heard of the term you are using, and I'm slightly wary that you might belong to some sort of new cult I've never heard of. The terms salt and light are both used in the bible, yes. We are commanded to be like salt and like lights shining in the midst of the dark. But what you're saying is not biblical. You're saying there are two categories of Christians: those who don't actively preach, but just try to be "good" and hope others will notice and ask them why. And those who actually bother to preach the gospel, but don't bother to actually try to be good. Well, neither of those types of Christian belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ. He said: "if you love me, obey my commandments." And his commandments regarding goodness and preaching the gospel are as follows:

Regarding goodness: as you will know if you have read the bible properly, every Christian is commanded to repent and do their best to do good works, not because it will earn their way into heaven or somehow cause them to subliminally preach to others without once uttering a word, but because it is a sign that they have passed from darkness into light. Also, the bible teaches that on the day of judgment God will be just when he punishes all those bad people who didn't listen, because they'll have no excuse for not repenting. We were setting them an example all along, and so was he. We are commanded to do good works as a sign of God's ownership of us and our new nature in Christ, but those good works are not the basis for our entrance into heaven. Jesus is.

Regarding preaching the gospel: every Christian ought to do this. If they don't, they're not a Christian. It's mandatory. Whether you do it part-time to everyone you meet, or are called to do it full-time, is irrelevant. You must. And you do and you will if you are really a Christian. It just comes naturally, because nothing else matters. It's not a matter for debate. It's like eating and breathing.

To sum up: the bible is very black and white, and usually divides things into categories. Heaven or hell. SIn or righteousness. Life or death. But not with Christians.

There are no sub-categories of Christians. You're either saved, and living your life 100% for him, or you're not. You're either a sheep, or a goat. A child of the devil, or a child of God. Passed over into the light, or into the darkness. That's what the bible says.

These are all things taken straight from the bible, so if you want to learn more about them, go and look it up.

iamnotaparakeet, are you a puritan?

According to the heretics, I'm an anti-feminist fundamentalist Calvinist.

According to the bible, I'm a Christian still waiting for the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Could we talk?

LOL that was very abrupt for someone professing the faith. What happened to: "greet one another with an holy kiss?"

More applicable is Matthew 5:37.

That's entirely out of context and irrelevant. I looked it up and it's the part concerning instructions not to swear an oath. It's not at all relevant to greetings or social interaction amongst the body of Christ, nor is it some kind of cop-out excuse for people professing to be Christians who want to be rude.

Are you the kind of person who seeks to justify himself by quoting God's words out of context?

I'll be off, then. Bye!

No, but your writing style sets me on edge and in addition to your recent sign on date I do not trust you for now.

That's fine if you don't want to bother me in particular. There's a whole other forum of people to get offended at.

Says the man who replies in monosyllables.

I'm not offended; just disappointed. I thought for a moment there I'd found another Christian.

*sigh*

Incorrect. Both the words "writing" and "style" contain two syllables, also you have found a Christian but I know not whether you have found another Christian. I have been under a lot of attacks lately on this forum and I don't really have the ability to lend trust to new users anymore, particularly new users who demonstrate interest in me in particular. Sorry though for this rude introduction, if my suspicions of you are not truly merited.

I find Christians who declare that other Christians are not Christians are very un-Christian themselves.

Do you mean someone who believes religion and science? To me studying science and religion is a search for a common answer. They go hand in hand. Im one who believes in intelligent design/theistic evolution.
I am a liberal/progressive Christian so I find a much deeper and symbolic(instead of literal) meaning to the Bible than many other Christians. Example: I actually believe in reincarnation. Hell isnt a literal place but the feeling of being "hot headed" or "on fire." Like we feel here sometimes! We keep being reborn here until we fulfill our "divine plan" from God. So I believe Jesus was fully human and he is called "divine" and "only begotten son" because he was, during biblical times, the first person who was born to know his divine plan, so he followed it. He helped the poor and the outcasts. He preached all about love and forgiveness and tolerance. That is the reason he said "the only way to God is through him." Look at all the nobel peace prize winners. Martin Luther King is a good example. He was a Christian probably inspired by Jesus to give africans civil rights. I am inspired by Jesus to always have love, forgiveness, and tolerance. That is why I call myself a Christian. I am afraid many Christians have forgotten the non dogmatic teachings of Jesus.
I apologize if I got too much off topic and also if I dont seem like a "true" Christian.
I wouldn't recommend searching the Bible online because I believe God makes us all unique therefore we have our own unique interpretation. We shouldnt have someone else interpret it for us.
I have philosophy similar to Ghandi. You should look him up.

Telling Catholics not to comment since we aren't Christian (by what criteria?), then elsewhere lumping us in with satanists, isn't going to inspire us to take you seriously. No matter how much you protest you're just "stating the truth you've learned" (from where?).

Just a tip.

the reason why i said that was because i wanted to ask only the salty/light christians. i feel that if i didnt mention that then there would be a bunch of people trying to "de-rail" this topic if you know what i mean. its happend lots of times to me.

and yes i do mean science and theism. not religion. i dont like using the word religion for personal reasons. and even if i did explain it would be quite difficult for some of you to understand what i mean.
