Prof's "Death to Israel!" shout mildly criticized
Fox News
This happened at Kent State. Not even the head of the Anti-Defamation League is calling for the prof's firing, for some reason. He should be fired not for being insensitive, but for being incompetent as an educator. If this is what college is nowadays, students might as well join street gangs instead and save on the ridiculous tuition costs -- they'd get the same training in racist hatred.

Case in point, if he said "Death to Islam" instead and got fired, conservatives and Fox News would be making a huge deal about the "discrimination against patriots" thing.
It is hate speech, but I have no idea if it is because of a pattern or because he got really pissed at the lecture and couldn't control his reaction.
Should he be fired? He probably will be fired if he is not already fired and Fox News is making a storm in a teapot just because the university administration hasn't deal with that in less than a couple of days. Assuming the whole thing is true (of course), considering the news source.
I mean, he will get fired, take this as an indicator:
It does raise questions, is it ok to fire professors for hate speech out of context? Freedom of speech is there precisely to protect speech that is not pleasant on our ears. Although "death to Israel" is rather dumb and deserving of getting fired, it is not something he did under the role of a professor but as an activist attending a presentation. So, should people be fire-able for things they say outside of work? It is definitely not as unambiguous as you present it.
Yes, the insane ramblings of one professor outside of his lecture hours are all the proof you needed.

It is unfortunate that a number of religious fanatics consider anything counter to their faith, violates their assumed Rights of any God, and that to appease the violated rights of said God of theirs, they must act for such God to make "Heads Roll", as they blindly believe Human Rights are not conducive to their religious faith.

The government cannot restrict one's freedom of speech or press in the act of peaceably petitioning the government for redress of grievances. In a private domain the owner of the domain can restrict speech any way he wants. He owns the space and he owns the right to regulate its use. So if the owner of a newspaper won't print your stuff, too bad. He is under no obligation to do so. If the owner of an auditorium will not permit what you have to say to be said in that auditorium, too bad. Find another auditorium. The first amendment is a restriction what Congress can do.

Well according to recent studies religious fanatic groups have become more irrelevant the. Religious has been more involved in politics which is why I am independent I do not so blindly. Follow any political group I stay netural unlike most Americans.
This is exactly the type of radical idea that the tenure system is meant to protect amongst academics. Sometimes, these ideas have merit, and if intellectuals can't promote them, who will? Unless you have some kind of authority that will separate radical ideas with merit from those without, you have to tolerate ideas you don't like. So who would get to choose which ideas are alright and which aren't?
Also, this guy's a professor, not a politician. He doesn't have to appeal to fox news, you, or anyone else.
I would have to hear it from a real source and the whole story.
Fox News is like a bunch of old women looking for stuff to get upset about.
Outrage Junkies.

"Public Places" include many privately owned, such as shopping malls, parks, campuses. If privately owned means no "Public Places", is selling public assets, selling away all Constitutional Rights???
Kurt Vonnegut made "jokes" about in Hawaii, people had to float about the island, hanging on to balloons, before they had any Human Rights, because on the ground of the United States of America, Human Rights did not exist, much as the World's "bad guys" are warning the World's people about today.
One recent Supreme Court Ruling again found that "Preambles" to treaties, and constitutions, are null and void, so when the old interpretation of "We the People" returns to "We the Wealthy, Healthy, White, Straight, Male, Protestants", everyone better be ready to accept the truth of "Jesus Christ", the National Lord, or else, and so much for worthless documents of self-evident truths....

Should he . . . I don't know I think he has a right to his opinion.
Prolly should find a better way of expressing it though.

So now you jumped camp and became an atheist.
Is that a mark against Cain or against Science?

Neither and I am not a atheist, I am a judeo christian it is common knowlege that Science and Philosphy are man made the Myans are the ones who made math history will tell you that my friend.
There is that video on YouTube about the vegetarian that only eats chicken.
The Gods created Philosophy and Science. I was ambushed by the spectres in the spectrum of the "Spectrum of Autism". Most all concepts are from the Gods, maybe the recent Prion isn't (no, it's a God too!).

He was not putting forth an idea, any more than I would be putting forth an idea if I shouted "die n-word!" in the same circumstances. And yes, a prof would be fired if he did so. It's all political correctness, not the high-minded b.s. you pretend it to be. And before you say the example isn't equivalent, there would be no black people in the room at the time, so it couldn't be considered a credible threat. (And, obviously, I would NEVER do such a thing -- it is abhorrent, as this "intellectual" must have realized about his exclamation.)
Also, why do you say "this guy's a professor", and then go on to make the assertion that, therefore, he's above everyone? I think you know what I think about that. He's a turd, that's all.
"Death to Israel" is not an "idea", it's hate. And it's quite politically correct hate, not "radical" as you suppose. (Ever hear of the Holocaust? It was very popular at one time, and many people miss it to this day. That's reality.) Do you not know how to recognize hate? Maybe you don't. Ah, well, maybe you'll experience it in a very damaging way one day, and then you'll have a clue what most people suffer. Until then, keep on praising the virtues of "academic" idiocy.
