I highly doubt that for most atheists today, or in the 80's when this song was made, that it matters to them so much about the actions of people claiming to be this or that. Quite more likely based on notions of billions and trillions of years and so forth, a far more intellectual approach. But let's consider this anyway, does it matter if people calling themselves Christians stumble? Do their actions or inaction in matters where they should respond according to their faith actually affect the truth or falsity of Christianity itself? Is Christianity going to be more or less true regardless of whether people who call themselves Christians act like Christians are supposed to? I am not advocating some form of stupid moral relativism, but I'm asking if anyone actually believes that the actions of people who claim they believe something and yet act hypocritically regarding their belief actually thereby cause their belief to be false. Does anyone seriously believe that?
