This has to be one of if not the worst gaffes I've ever seen. This cycles "Dean scream" for sure. I expect him to drop out by the end of the month. His top fundraisers apparently are saying he's finished.

I'll give some thoughts on the debate later.

Cut him some slack, he was tripping balls.

Actually, the thing about Perry is that he really is as stupid as liberals like to say George W. Bush is.

He isn't a contender unless he wins the nomination. Until then, just sit back and enjoy the show.

Pathetic. He's a horrible person, but I actually pity him between this and the New Hampshire speech.

It is kinda sad, Ron and someone else was trying to help him and he still fudged it up. He should of just rolled with the EPA answer.

He's like a Will Farrell caricature of George W. Bush.

Perry is honestly the worst debater I've ever seen.

I'm baffled.

Is it conceivable this is like a subconscious self-sabotage or something? Or on some level Rick Perry is sick of this race and wants out? Or maybe he was never into this race to begin with and the Party pressured him into it? Like they kept trying to do with Christie?

At least Perry is dedicated to cutting wasteful programs, even though he does not remember what they are.

The brain freeze isn't as disturbing to me as what apparently lies behind it: that he probably isn't thinking in depth about those three agencies, but rather did the index-card method of debate prep. I mean, if you're thinking deeply about a subject for weeks, you're not likely to forget the title of the subject. (As if he were to say, "Let's see, I'm the governor of... hold on... don't tell me... Arghh, I forgot which state. Sorry!") So what bothers me is that he apparently isn't much concerned with the issues themselves -- at least not yet.

I'm still getting past the obvious drunken stupor he delivered that NH speech in.

Closing 3 departments is good(altho Perry's pledge is a hollow one) but closing 5 with more on the way is better. How many departments does the Cainwreck want to close again?

Let me guess: Health and Human Services.

It's a Freudian slip. It might be easy for Perry to say he is going to slash welfare but will he dare remember to say that he is going to slash Social Security?

I just thought that it was hilarious that he spaced on the list right after naming the Department of Education - making it sound like he might be sorely in need of its services...
