Does it matter that it seems lame? If faith must ground itself in the awe-inspiring supernatural, then faith will always find itself on the losing end with the rise of reason. Regardless of what my faith teaches me, the world was not created during busy week 5,772 years ago. But I don't rely on the miraculous to ground my faith. I rely on the commonality of custom and ritual with millions of my fellow Jews the world over.
Besides, we save the big time miracles for Passover.
