Know of any country were you get "instant results" on overturning ingrained cultural norms? Particularly in people who are for the most part illiterate and uneducated in a country whos infrastructure and central government has been absent since an invasion by soviet forces in the late 70's?

You should have known that before starting a liberation war.

I say the Afghans should take some responsibility for this themselves.

Just saying.

The US put their current government, they put their constitution. They fed the Muslim radicals. The US got most of the responsibility.

So it's ok to act as spoiled children rather than take much responsibility?

Maybe the Americans should intervene even more instead of giving some space for the Afghans to do things on their own terms.

imperialist forces have messed the country up big time. imperialist forces are there for their own self interest. its not for democracy or for womens rights. things were like this for ages why are they suddenly taking action now and the state of democracy or womens rights suck in their own countries why do they care about womens rights elsewhere?
i like malalai joya's stance on this:
"Ten years ago, the US and its allies invaded my country under the fake banners of women's rights, human rights and democracy. But after a decade Afghanistan still remains the most unstable, the most corrupt and most war-torn country in the world." - Malalai Joya
"The foreign troops are engaged with brutal warlords: they support a brutal mafia regime; they are implicated in drug-trafficking; they kill innocent civilians in their bombardments and are only motivated by their own strategic and regional interests."- malalai joya again.

she says this as a former afghan politician who got kicked out for her speech against the warlords and war criminals in the Loya Jirga.

The US isn't in Afghanistan to liberate them, they are there to occupy and have a military presence in the area. Being there just to guard the opium fields is just a guise.

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Rudyard Kipling

Babies need to be taken care of. You can't just let them be while they're still babies.
