Now technically I am an Irish citizen so I probably should not ask the question but this really fasinates me.
Newt Gingrich is a man for corporations, big business and banks. He seem's to care little for the fact that greed is part of the reason we are in the mess of the recession or that 1% of the country controlled 34.6% in 2007. He recently stated that Occupy wall street participants should 'go get a job right after you take a bath' . At the same he is a firm supporter of the tea party ,which according to a lot of interviews with tea party participants think obama is a socialist . So Newts theory is that we should be angry with the new government (and be oblvious to part the bush administration played in causing the downturn) but not be angry with the corporations or banks because they are making an 'honest' living.

That is exactly why the "right" thinks so highly of him.

Newt became famous when he gutted welfare and promised to put all the welfare children into orphanages.

What Right? The man tends to go down in flames as soon as he opens his mouth, or someone Googles his name; I'm not aware of many real people who think highly of him.

Simple, he's the epitome of everything they want in a president.

His patriotism runs so deep that he was forced to cheat on his wife. If that is not commitment, I don't know what the f**k is

He is known for orchestrating the Republican take back of the House during the Clinton years and quickly passing many Republican friendly policies.

And then he crashed and burned.

But he's still smarter than many of the other contenders.

I liked him better when he wasn't running, however. There had actually been times in the last five years that I read quotes from him and was left to ponder the shocking (to me, as a die hard liberal) reality that he was actually making some sense. But now that he has votes to pander for ... that "makes some sense" Newt seems to have disappeared. Shame, really.

Good point. And many a republican with moral sentiments considers Newt a disgusting person.

Things bode ill with the Republican Dough Boy.

Right now the only choices are Mitt Romney who is made of plastic and Ron Paul who is unfit to lead the nation in time of war. It looks like another 4 years of Obama.

The person I want to be the nominee is actually Newt Gingrich, though cause I think he has the best ideas as to what to do, and how to get things to actually pass congress. I would not have a problem with Herman Cain being the nominee though.

Currently I want a Gingrich/Cain or Cain/Gingrich ticket, seriously either one of them could be dead drunk and beat Gaffe a minute Biden in a debate. I would really enjoy Gingrich mopping the floor with the teleprompter in chief.

Bottom line is Newt Gingrich is a hero because he championed the contract with America that gutted welfare.

Because he's fatter and whiter than the other candidates. Have you seen the right lately?
