I wonder why he thinks that a "Massachusetts Moderate" cannot beat Barack Obama?

I would think that an obnoxious hard-core "conservative" would have even less of a change against President Obama.

To be fair, he might have a point. Relative "soft-line" conservatives like George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, and John McCain don't fare as well as outright a-hole conservatives like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

Don't believe that Newt Gingrich actually believes the BS he spews. He knows history (and, yes, despite what critics say, he actually has taught history), he just chooses to ignore it when speaking to the base.

If Romney were still the guy he had been as Massachusetts governor, I wouldn't be worried for America if he did beat Obama. But as he's sold his soul by throwing away everything he used to believe in for the chance to become president, I lose sleep over the notion of him getting sworn in.
