Jews have enough problems. We do not need yo-yo s like this.

What are the problems of the Jews?

Oh, the occasional torching of a Synagogue such as happened in Edison NJ last week.

Things like that and the constant Blame Game from the anti-semites. Things like that.

ruveyn

Sucks they had that happen, but it's really not much different than other group's problems, so I can't say that its unique to them.

Nobody said it was. Being a minority in America is a bit like being one of the nerdy kids in high school. We're all just taking turns getting our heads dunked in the toilet. When someone in your group goes and does something stupid, well... It's cause for concern, because they might just decide it's your turn.

I was just asking what the Jewish problems were from ruveyn because I take it he's Jewish and I was interested to hear what he meant. There's a lot of things about Jews and Judaism that isn't really talked about, which makes it a more interesting question. I'm white and I've been the target of racial hatred, even religious hatred more than one time.

I'm sorry to hear you've had that experience. People can be very narrow-minded and cruel. I guess it just comes down to how "different" they think you are, and there's a lot more to that than skin tone.

I'm not sure what you're referring to in the previous statement, but if there's something specifically you wanted to ask about Judaism, or the Jewish people, feel free. I'd suggest starting a new thread though.

There's some Polish in there as well, but yes, that's basically it, and transliterated into the Hebrew alphabet. Kind of a collective language, but I guess many are.
(Urdu comes to mind as a similarly collective, transliterated language.)

The religious hatred was from Christians, AND I WAS ONE! Well, at the time. Racial or religious problems, it didn't matter. I got over them pretty well.

Sure, start the thread, but I don't have a list of questions to ask. The initial one arose just because it basically presented itself to me reading what ruveyn said.

Even if you did provide me with an answer today, it doesn't mean I'll still be wondering about it tomorrow, as the answers seem to change even when the question is the same. I guess that's another interesting thing about it.

Polish is a Slavic language, which I had mentioned.

Yiddish. A mixture of German, Polish, Russian and other slavic languages.

In Spain where the S'fardim lived a Spanish-Portugese based mixed language called Ladino developed among the Jews who lived there.

Hebrew letters were used to carry the sound values of the resulting language. Hebrew is phonetic so it can be used to transcribe any language that the Latin, Greek and Cyrillic alphabets can handle.

And you know, as Yiddish is a mishmash of German, Polish, and Russian, all of which are Indo-European or "Aryan" languages, all I can say is - - WELCOME TO THE HERREN VOLK!
One of us! One of us! Oogly googly, one of us!
