For every publicised "I almost died and I saw god" story, I'd bet there are twice as many people who almost died (or did die and were resuscitated) who just saw it all go black.

They're telling the truth, but it's all natural brain activity. The similarities in their accounts are readily explained by the similarities between their brains.

Only this, and nothing more.

I don't know and/as it's not part of my experience so it doesn't make much difference to me, fascinating as it can be as a topic.

The phenomena of NDE's and Out Of Body Experiences seem to go hand in hand. The "mystery" of death is not really a mystery if you do some digging. There has been taught for thousands of years a concept which today is popularly known in the west as the etheric body and the astral body, when you die you merely discard your physical body and consciousness is transfered to the etheric body, which accounts for ghost sightings that have been reported... since forever. Anyone can learn how to induce out of body experiences through meditation and other methods, some people do it naturally without even trying. People that go into surgery sometimes experience this, they report how they were put unconscious and then they wake up outside of their body and watch their own surgeries. They even report that they can hear everything that the doctors are saying.

I could go on and on I really love this stuff.

Of course this has all been debunked and ridiculed because scientists can't seem to find "physical evidence", not surprisingly, for a non-physical phenomena. So it'll probably be some time before science catches up to what our ancestors already knew & taught.

I can understand your fascination with having numbers and tests for everything, but it must blind you to SO many things

I had one back in 1966. I went through all the Keubler-Ross stages in under a half hour.

Good news. I did not die. Better news, I no longer fear death. Not that I want to die a moment before I have to, mind you.,

It's not my job or anyones job to provide evidence to you, since there are methods available to experience it yourself, it's your job to find out for yourself. So the burden of proof is on you, if you want to limit yourself to scientific, "physical evidence or it doesnt exist" scientific dogma thats fine, your awareness is your own responsibility. There are just things out there that you can't so easily put under a microscope.

I came to discuss a subject, not win converts.

Did you prove it for yourself?

What kind of evidence are you looking for? Some ectoplasm?

This is supposedly common. People who undergo this kind of thing often say they don't fear death anymore. Whatever it really is, it doesn't sound bad at all.

I guess we'll all find out one day, huh? Have you had any experiences related to NDE's or OBE's?

Quite the contrary - It does not blind me to the fact that you are side-stepping my request with ridicule.

Tell me What's In The Box (link).

Of course, I expect you to response with either a rhetorical word salad or at least one lame excuse as to why something you believe in can not be done.

I'm not ridiculing you. Ridicule would involve me calling you an idiot or some such. I am making an observation.

Not everything that exists has concrete evidence to support it. While doubt is reasonable in such a case as this, it is generally advisable to have some evidence to DISPROVE the possibility before you come rampaging in to a thread, even if it is only a strain of logic. If you cannot disprove it, then you must admit that it could well happen.

Also, how does one prove an out of body experience? It isn't like telepathy, or telekinesis, or even prophesy (which you fail to understand it seems). Please, inform me if there is some test of this.
