So what is your opinion on BOTH issues?

I am opposed to abortion but I don't think it should be illegal just because then we will go back to coat hangers and the majority of people want it to be legal so to outlaw it would require authoritarian coercion of the populace. Probably a better way to end abortion is simply to convince people that it is wrong. It won't totally end abortion, but it could possibly be more effective than criminalising it. I am a believer that ultimately, persuasion is more powerful than force.

I'm completely against the death penalty unless the criminal chooses it themselves. For that matter, what do you think of assisted suicide?

I am pro-choice, pro-death penalty, and support assisted suicide.

I have no right to tell a woman she can't get an abortion, I believe that some criminals can not be rehabilitated and as such keeping them alive serves no purpose, and I have no right to tell a person they can't end their lives.

What if the person who wants to kill themselves suffers a mental illness, or they are a teenager? Should their wish be granted in your opinion?

I think they should get help to explore all available options first, but if they still have a desire to kill themselves then I can't in good conscience deny them control over their own lives.

Fair enough. So maybe not suicide on demand for everyone?

There are no poll options for "Other (Please Explain)" or "Undecided".

I wanted this poll to be a bit more clear cut. I think these issues are kind of for/against anyways. If you are for death penalty or abortion even a little bit, you're still for it, just with more reservations than average.

Sort of. People who wish to die because of mental issues do need help, but if after they receive that help they still feel the need to die then they should be allowed to do so. It isn't my place to force them to survive.

I don't like either, but they aren't huge issues to me at the same time.

Think that is kind of funny, not pro choice, pro abortion. I am for abortions!

Edit: To be serious, I don't like abortion, but it should be legal.

i'm prochoice, anti-death penalty and pro-euthanasia. it is all about self-determination. anti-choicers [anti-abortion types as well as anti-euthanasia] deny other people the right to do with their own bodies as they please. pro-death-penalty types are playing god and [sometimes] hiding their bloody-mindedness behind a tired facade of false ethics.

It's loaded because nobody will pick "I'm for abortion". I'm pro-choice, not pro-abortion. For the right to abort, in other words.

One can be both pro-choice and against abortion, in the sense of "I wouldn't have one and hope that nobody else has to make this decision, but I still want women to have this option".

pro-life and don't trust the government enough to carry out the death penalty fairly.

As for the term "pro-abortion" being loaded, I find it interesting people take issue with it since that would mean they recognize that abortion is morally wrong.

I don't see abortion as morally wrong and have no issue with the phrase 'pro abortion' on my own terms. My only issue with it is that it's incorrect. Whilst I don't see anything wrong with abortion (I think I'm unusual among pro-choice advocates with that), I still don't 'recommend' it, I simply want it to be legal and freely available.

There are probably some antinatalist people out there that go as far as to recommend abortion, but most pro choice advocates, even those who see abortion as morally neutral, do not recommend it. I'm even morderately antinatalist myself and I don't see abortion as either a positive or negative thing.
