Hmmm..........I wonder how "Whites for Santorum" would go over.
I guess excluding other races is okay as long as you're a democrat.....

The problem, of course, with "Caucasian Americans for Santorum" (fixed the terminology so I'd be more analogous) is that...

  • "Majority group (Caucasian American) pride" is often associated with pushing down the rights of minority groups.
  • Santorum, who's first thought in Iowa when he's asked about social assistance is "blacks" and whose visited an organization (CPAC) that invites white nationalists with open arms while excluding fiscally conservative gay and lesbian Americans, is that it'd be a f*cking PR nightmare given his personal history.
  • Interestingly enough, while "white pride" is taboo, pride in specific European heritages (German, Irish, Polish, etc) are not.

Lol, I shouldn't respond to this, but these topics get really really old after a while.

African Americans are still a minority and are still discriminated against in this country. Racism is about intent. There is a difference between a discriminated group sticking together and the majority group ganging up on the minority. A year or two ago I might have been fooled by this silly logic but over time and seeing enough of these posts, I've realized that people who say this kind of stuff often have some underlying paranoia or racism themselves, even if it is not fully at the conscious level.

Again, racism is about intent.

^^^ This. The privileged majority can hardly be discriminated against by a still underprivileged minority.

Well, as soon as whites ever have to risk injury or even death in order to cast a ballot (and please, don't mention the two New Black Panthers members standing outside one polling place), maybe you might then have an argument.
Beside, as already mentioned, the white nationalist movement is nothing but a reactionary movement against minorities daring to ask for their constitutional rights.
I am a white man, and never - and I mean never - have my rights ever been violated because non-white Americans have been given their liberties.

I won't argue one way or another on its appropriateness but I would argue, sadly almost anywhere outside of CORE, it seems a bit redundant.

Regardless of what Republicans like to say of how they're not racist or homophobic, what happened at CPAC shows a great number of Republican leaders, and many of their voters are the Klan at the ballot box.

It didn’t need to be fixed. You could have been just as obnoxious or analogous or whatever the way it was….

Funny, I know very few if any who have pushed down the rights of minorities. But then again my definition of pushed down no doubt differs greatly from whatever yours is, not that I’d want to know…..

Right, I’m sure he said that….

None of it is taboo. You can be proud of what you are whatever you are. No one has an exclusive right to pride. Maybe if you had some you’d understand……

What gets old (and humorous at the same time) is the continuous vilification of ANY republican presidential candidate that has reared their head enough to get national attention. One slam against Obama is a drop in the bucket by comparison but at least I have something (unless this video is fake) to bring to the table.

Yeah, I guess if there is 1 racist person in 100 (or 1,000,000) you’d call that a racist society just to keep the fires of discontent burning. Then when that 1 in 100 (or whatever) person is gone you just redefine racism to be more encompassing. Gotta do something to keep it going, eh?

Whatever, all I know is that the add I posted wasn’t very inclusive given the speaker is supposed to be a liberal……
Liberal hypocrite but then that’s par for the course……

So that video of the black panthers at the voting precinct was staged? Sure didn’t look like it to me. Anyhow, when in recent history have blacks risked death to vote. No, dredging up things 50 and 100 years ago doesn’t count unless you really want to grasp at straws.

I must have missed that if it was in this thread. I wasn’t even aware of a white nationalist movement in recent times. No, the tea party isn’t that.

Who’s advocating denying anyone their liberties? ?? Do you even know what liberties are?

Now for ALL of you:
*****SANTORUM IS NOT GOING TO BE THE PRESIDENT*****
Not any more than the other scary republicans without a chance like Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann or a few others.

I’ll admit that I was disgusted when Obama got elected AFTER he got elected but it didn’t last much more than a month before I, for all practical purposes, pretty much got over it and moved on to fight another day.
I have more than enough self-respect to restrain myself from caterwauling over opposing elected officials, let alone carry on like you people do months BEFORE the election…..
Oh well, though; if you want to go on humoring me go right ahead.

I never said the incident with the New Black Panthers was staged. Rather, a couple social misfits standing outside a polling station in dress up - who went ignored by the voters - was plainly blown out of proportion by Fox News and other Republican party propaganda outlets.
