They have a tendency to forget these Biblical principles of marriage.

They also seem to forget that marriage existed long before Christianity.

Today's Christians seem to have a problem in general with strictly applying the Bible, yet they claim they follow the Bible strictly. They're all pretty much Cafeteria Christians.

This is a very good thing, though, since at least they don't encourage many of the evil things that happened in the Bible. But still, they're hypocrites for strictly applying the Bible on some issues (such as homosexuality) yet completely ignoring it on other issues (such as slavery).

I find it disgusting that the argument actually works. Okay, so homosexaulity is wrong in some versions of Christianity. What about about all the other religions? They aren't all against it.

Where exactly is it in the legal system that says which religion is the right one?

Oh that's right it's not anywhere because we live in democracies (if you live in a place that is not democratic, you can make a slightly stronger argument)

The fact that they forget those things is sick and wrong! I mean, I could really go for #1-3. Any woman I want and as many women as I want and all because God said so, I like the basic concept there.

Actually, one can have a democratic theocracy and early American governments were sometimes democratic theocracies so the whole democracy = rights/freedom argument doesn't work well. I am not arguing for their case, I just dislike the idea that democracy is so often equated with freedom despite the fact that a more democratic government could theoretically be a more repressive government as well. Actually, one of the arguments against democracy is that they have a tendency for the majority to trample the rights of the minority, which is why the US has a constitutional republic.
