This was written in what I believe was the eighties. Here's the PDF for it. NINE NATIONS OF NORTH AMERICA

You can take a look at it. I don't have a particular opinion on it, as I haven't finished reading it and I don't know enough about the economy in other states, only that California is broke.

Tell me if the statements in Nine Nations of North America still apply, and if not, what has changed?

It reminds me very much of the Turner Thesis from the late 19th century. Turner divided the US into cultural geographic regions as part of his analysis. This guy is including Canada, northern Mexico, and the Caribbean in his study, though all his Q&A about politics is specific to the US.

Some of the regional names he uses may have different names in other literature, but the idea is the same.

I see you're only 15. Just mention the connection to the Turner Thesis and the idea that regionalization isn't new, and still exists, and has always existed, and your teacher should be impressed.

I remember when the book came out in 1982.
I read reviews and synopsis's of it at the time.
Nothing wrong with it.
Its an interesting way of looking at the continent.

It was meant to be a look at the future. So it would be interesting to see how many of the books predictions came true.

That could be a good angle if you're expected to give somekind of book report on it- comparing and contrasting the books predictions thirty years ago with what actually happened.

Skimmed over your link.
Havent read every word.
But I have noticed one change
.
The center of the drug war has changed since the "Miami Vice" era when the book was written. Miami isnt that important anymore. The always notorious Mexican border region is even more infamous and dangerous than ever now ( partially because the traffic that used to go through Miami comes up the Isthmus now and is comebined with the always present traffic from Mexico). And we get drugs from Europe (like E) and we have home grown chrystral meth from the heartland of the USA itsself to worry about now as well.
