There isn't one. They're not vegetarians, they're pescetarians.

I see. I still notice plenty of people claiming that they don't eat meat, except for fish and are vegetarian. Maybe they don't know what pescetarians are.

There are different kinds of vegetarians. The main reason behind vegetarianism is they do not eat meat because they are against killing animals to eat them (they are not against killing plants, though). The pesce-vegetarians or pescetarians are one kind of vegetarian who ocassionally eat fish. They do not see eating fish as a bad thing because they do not consider fish suffer while suffocating (I think that is pretty dumb). But most vegetarians and ovo-lacto vegetarians (who do not consider eating unborn chicken bad, either) do not consider pesce-vegetarians "real" vegetarians.

I am a vegetarian. I am on a plan-based diet. But I do not consider killing animals to eat them a bad thing. I actually killed some animals to eat them in the past. We all need to kill in order to survive. By cutting a plant or picking up a fruit you are killing that plant of fruit. I am a vegetarian because of heath reasons.

That's refreshing to hear. Fish do suffer. I've had fish before and I know they suffer. What is the logic behind thinking fish do not suffer while suffocating or being killed any other way? I don't really consider vegetarians that eat fish real vegetarians myself. Meat is meat. People kill plants too, but I'm pretty sure plants feel as well but people gotta eat.

Sometimes when I'm harvesting vegetables from my garden I feel a little guilty wrenching beans from their parents and cutting off courgettes and beheading cabbages. But like you say, gotta eat!

The statement "eating a fruit kills the fruit" doesnt make any sense.

Eating a fruit doesnt kill anything.
The plant that produced the fruit WANTS you to eat it so the plant can disperse it genes and reproduce by having its seeds pass through your gut ( or having you throw away the apple core on the ground). Thats the whole reason fruit evolved- so plants can exploit us animals to propagate.

If you didnt eat the fruit it would just rot on the ground, or it would sprout at the foot of the parent tree and compete with its parent and die.

I met a guy who called himself a "vegitarian" who ate chicken and fish.
Hardly "vegitarian". He shoulda called himself a "non mammal eater" or something.

But apparently for some its about health (red meat is supposidly bad for you), and for some its about the morality, and with many its an overlap of the two. So fish are less bad for you than poultry which are less bad for you than red meat ( or so some think). And on top of that the farther down the evolutionary scale you go the less human-like the animal is so the less status it has for protection. The higher up you go the more it is like canibalism.
So both motives dovetail with fish getting screwed!

I say spare the fish. Lets all eat land shrimp ( ie insects).

I do that indirectly: My chickens eat insects and I eat their eggs. :chef:

I eat fish because my parents force me to. When I move out, I will stop (except at restaurants, where I often don't have a choice).

You are a good son, your parents should be proud.

I had a friend who was a political Vegan no animal products at all.
Except for one chicken leg a week at has grandmothers he said he loved her more than he loved his politics.
