I do think that Northern Ireland coming out of a 30-year terrorist campaign by people who tried to murder and bomb them into a UI didn't really help things much. Just as loyalist terrorists butchering innocent Catholics didn't necessarily endear Catholics much to the Union (although there is a sizable Catholic Unionist element in NI).
This may sound like an ad hom or perhaps the genetic fallacy but I am using it heuristically.
If they are so nuts on evolution and the gay issue maybe they have crazy reasons for being against a united Ireland?
Saving myself from actually falling for the fallacies I will point out that I am not arguing that there are not good reasons for Northern Ireland remaining part of the Union. It is just that the DUP being nuts might not know what that is.
