How long can America keep going before it defaults. We know for some time that America has been
increasing its spending. I wonder how much GDP is used to pay back in interest alone. Is it a possibility
that things just can carry on as the way thing have in the last 30 years. I assume that most people do not
think about this so they assume that it will.

I don't see how it can go on much longer.

The American dollar is dropping faster then a gangster with cement boots.
It is only a "short" matter of time until the rest of the world loses its patience with us, switches the world standard to something else and start calling in our MASSIVE debts.

The real question is if the American government will survive that long without a civil war breaking out.

Perhaps that is why homeland security are buying deadly bullets. They don't use those for target practice.

Cant remember the name, but i saw a fascinating video on youtube that illustrates how America, despite being the 'richest' nation on Earth is already in negative equity, because it keeps printing more money than it produces goods to validate said money.

Yah I've heard about that, they are claiming its for practice.
Practice my ass, you don't use hollow points to shoot paper, you use hollow points to kill a person.

They are ordering even more as well I've heard.
Between Katrina, Obomas peace time control laws and the UN treaty, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this country in a pseudo state of marshal law within the next two years,
I can only hope civil war would follow that if it did happen.

We've been in default since 1933.

Usually yes, hollow points cost much more than regular full metal jackets.

To the original question, I don't see it going much longer. Probably less than five years (and that's my 'optimistic' guess).

I read a breakdown of how that ammo will be distributed, and it actually comes out to around 500-700 rounds per agent. The total amount sounds excessive, but when you factor in the fact that it is meant to cover training, practice and on duty usage for an entire year it really isn't that much. I usually go through 300-500 rounds in an afternoon of target shooting. I'll post a link to the source as soon as I can find it.

RIght now it's very cheap for the government to borrow. if people didnt trust the US, or had other options, that wouldnt be the case. In the medium term that could change. Nothing is about to happen soon.

I don't see anything wrong with law enforcement buying bulk ammunition for pistols. Civil unrest usually bring out the long arms. The national guard wasnt using pistols to control looters in the 60s and if some imagined doomsday preppers scenario happens, you'll see cops and soldiers with rifles and shotguns on the streets. Or riot gear, gas and clubs.
