I have a friend who claims that he can read auras...and he is far from a spiritual deluded nutcase...he is atheist even. He even says most of the guides on learning are frauds. Do you think auras are possible to be read? He claims it is mainly based on neutrino chemicals being seen to tell someone's strength...he even was able to tell I was anorexic and in a bad state of mind when we first met using chakra reading he said.

I want fair responses here, and acknowledge science and religion will always agree. Please be civil.

The main reason I am asking is that I think it would be able to solve our body language issues...if you can see emotion in someone from a different way, it could be worth learning.

If there actually was a cloud of vaporous material that surrounded the human body and emitted electromagnetic radiation with a distinct color, then I would expect this to visible as "colors" are frequency bands on electromagnetic spectrum that are perceptible to humans. That is why I consider auras to be unscientific.

Do you mean "aren't perceptible to humans?"

I would have to disagree, humans can see a wide range of colors and some are hypersensitive, especially on here. When I was young I could hear radio signals my hearing was so acute...who's to say babies don't have the ability then lose it over time? Psychology has found children tend to be well attuned to emotion and more sensitive in their senses than the typical population.

Neutrinos are particles that barely interact with matter. The Earth is bombarded with a countless number of them every second that are emitted by the sun. Most of them pass straight through the entire planet and out the other side like it wasn't even here! Sounds like your friend is full of BS if he is claiming to see neutrinos!

Interesting. So even if he could see them, it is highly unlikely he would be able to get a read on any particular person to read their emotions/nervous system state?

I admit I am gullible to scientific information added that may make no sense.

He may just be subconsciously picking up on body language, posture, facial expressions and even a person's smell, pheromones etc and inferring a persons mood from those but he is attributing it to pseudo-scientific BS.

scientist are only detecting 1 in gazillion-ish neutrinos passing through our bodies and even our planet without interacting with anything… and this guy reads them??

There are no " auras " to read. The only aura you give off is heat in the electromagnetic spectrum plus reflected light off your surfaces.

I don't know. I hear a lot about us having electromagnetic discharge but not enough to know whether I personally buy into seeing these sorts of things as anything more than a synaesthetic event.

I had considered that as well. Why I am skeptical.
