I was on a tenchu board, and i had a great idea for a game (I'm going to colledge to make video games, by the way).... I was thinking a metal gear/tenchu crossover, but everyone laughed at my idea..... And acted as if the two games are about as compatible as Super Mario Bros and Resident Evil. But, really the two games aren't THAT different I don't think... besides timelines which can be worked over (and the portal stage in tenchu, in the alternative storyline, brought rikimaru into the modern world), and different weapons and tactics (which I thought would be a good thing because it's something new)... My best friend didn't like the idea much either, but i thought it sounded interesting. In fact I made a post about it about a week or so ago in the game section but nobody seemed to write anything on my idea.. If I'm this far off base with what people will like then I'm gonna have a hard time figuring out which games to make...
I mean granted the screenplay might be alittle different, but I was planning on using splinter cell type screenplay. As far as characters and storylines, and using stealth, I don't see much more difference in the games that make them incompatible though. I mean it's not like there were never ninjas in other metal gear games. Every MG game with the exception of Snake Eater had atleast one ninja somewhere in it, some had more..... And tenchu was casted as being like metal gear ninja style. Does anyone else think it might work? Here was my post describing my initial plans to cementing the storylines:

Wrong planet used to be picky about missed posts.
Are we still stringent?

I always thought a semi-linear, mission based Final Fantasy would be cool. Use the setting of FF8 (with the Gardens and all that), structure it like Grand Theft Auto with storyline advancing missions, side-storyline missions, but keep the RPG playing style.

The ONLY thing I don't like about final fantasy is that battle sequence mode crap. I like to be able to outright attack my opponent, rather than trading blows back and forth and digging through a web of attack/healing lists and whatever before they attack me. That gets confusing.

Have you tried FF12? It seems to be a lot faster paced than the previous editions.

Could just be me, though, and the drop down lists and relatively slow battle system don't bother me. I proudly list FF3/6j as my favorite game of all time. (Chrono Trigger a somewhat close second)

I think it's cool that you like FF games, just not my thing personally. Aside from the Battle Sequence Mode I actually liked FF games, the characters and storylines and what not.... I used to have a friend that would sit there and play FF games ALL DAY LONG.
I like Manhunt alot..... For some reason I'm getting more into stealth games and gangster games more recently.... I LOVE the godfather, though once I beat it there's nothing left to do anymore. But I can now take out enemy gangs' mansions without dying, I'm talking blowing both of them up. I got my dillinger, my street sweeper, my colt python, and my assassin pistol.
