My dream is still to immigrate to Canada, but it's extremely difficult, even if you have a worthwhile college degree. I haven't given up but if my dream becomes a pipe dream, what's another nice country that is very lax about allowing US citizens to patriate there?

Since you are young, and assuming you have a degree that they would consider to useful, you could look into New Zealand. The New Zealand immigration forum would probably be a good starting point. New Zealand Immigration Forum

If you still want canadian citizenship you can always get a student vis or work visa.Otherwise there is always Australia or Germany.

I also hear New Zealand is relatively easy. In the meantime, why not try to make the U.S. more like your dream country. Ever since I was little I wanted to British, but when GW Bush got elected, I wanted to stay in America and fight those Bush Bastards :D
Still I try to bring a little Englishness to America by trying to convert them to Doctor Who, Blackadder and Red Dwarf.

I'm not terribly sure about Germany. An immigrant would have to display a decent understanding of the German language among many other things to even be considered a candidate for citizenship. Some of these items include an Aufenthaltserlaubnis / Aufenthaltsberechtigung (residency permit), residing in Germany for 8+ years, a guarantee that you will not use welfare programs and will work (no "free rides" there) to support your family (sometimes, persons under 23 years of age are exempt), taking a solemn oath and of course, relinquishment of former citizenship (some exceptions may occur). With the growing economic problems in Europe, holding a job may prove more difficult.

I think that it is fairly easy for a Gringo to migrate to Mexico.

It's very difficult for people from outside the EU to immigrate to any country in the EU. A job or other guaranteed source of income is required and EU countries aren't short of highly educated and skilled people looking for a job.

Is it that urgent to convert citizenship when moving? Suppose a person goes to Germany it seems that would be on some kind of visa that is renewed. Then years later after being established determine whether to switch citizenship.

:lmao:

Not a chance! Mexico has fewer jobs than the US and their government is trying get people to move OUT, not in. NZ might be easy but life there really isn't all that pleasant.

FWIW: I've never understood why few other western countries are willing to take Americans wanting to emigrate. Patriotic imbeciles really like to scream "luv it or leave it" but the plain truth is that for most of us there is nowhere else to go(even if we really want to leave). I guess America is a place that isn't so hard to get into but once you're there you can never leave..... :?

And yet they take millions of 3rd world immigrants with no useful skills. I guess the attitude of Europe, and certainly the EU, is that if you're going to emigrate there you have to have a need to leave where you are rather than simply a want to move there.

Ciudad Juarez is apparently nice this time of year. Not.
