So I found this blogpost using google and you can have a look at it right HERE.

Basically, this feminist idiot blogger who unfortunately happens to be an aspie is trying to rationalize and justify women behaving unfairly. She thinks that because women are oppressed and treated unfairly that this gives them the right to be unfair to men whenever and wherever they get that chance. If you really wanna know why I am so up in arms about feminists, people and posts like this are the reason! The notion that it's acceptable to be unfair to others because you belong to an "oppressed group" and have been treated unfairly, particular those who really did nothing to you, is the quintessence of the entitlement attitude that feminism cultivates.

What frustrates me most of all is how the MAJORITY of aspie women out there seem to identify more with being female than being an aspie. Maybe it's because comparatively speaking, women as a group have more power and social influence than autists do and they certainly are numerically superior. So they figure it's better to identify with a bigger, stronger coalition.

Then she goes a whine about people criticizing her attitude by saying:

Quote:
This tactic is also a way to use intersectionality against feminists: a feminist who confesses hirself unsympathetic to the hypothetical Aspie bachelor's plight opens hirself up to accusations of ableism. (Or, in the weaker version of this appeal, where the hypothetical man is not an actual autistic but just a well-meaning, socially awkward, geeky guy, the feminist becomes the stuck-up Mean Girl who won't give the sweet but wallflowerish Nice Guy the time of day. Since most women have been socialized to be nice, and polite, and not selfish or superficial, this high-schoolish taunt can have surprising power even over grown women).

But not all of them will --- one of the commenters at Shapely Prose pointed out that, even if a man is autistic, that doesn't guarantee he won't rape you --- and, again, I don't blame women for not wanting to risk a confrontation.

Well, EVEN IF a man is NT and seemingly normal/non-creepy that still is no guarantee that he won't rape you!! ! I can't believe that it isn't common knowledge among feminists so concerned with "rape culture" that women are far more likely to be raped by a man who they ALREADY KNOW(or are at the very least acquainted with)then they are to be raped by a stranger :!: Many rapists are manipulative and socially adept enough to deceive women they meet in public into trusting them since they know how to make her feel safe. Most men are not rapists. But since the 60s, feminism has aggressively promoted the believe that most men are rapists until proven otherwise and yet this has failed to decrease the incidence of rape.

Like men, women are not perfect and neither is their intuition. I'm tired of their lack of self-criticism. It's common knowledge that people who feel oppressed like to vent their frustration by treating others badly and oppressing members of ANOTHER group whenever they can. Furthermore, when people decide to take aim a certain group they always go after the weakest members of that group. So white, heterosexual, cisgendered, aspie men who aren't poor are ideal targets for feminists looking to bash men.....Especially when it comes to the issue of sexual assault since their feminine instincts perceive guys like this to be "creepy".

I don't really disagree with the sentiment of your post, but I would like to warn you that any discussion on feminism on this board ultimately falls victim to excessive sophism, argumentum verbosium, nitpicking, arguments around what sources are valid, not what the sources say, then ultimately ends up with ad hominem and moderators gone wild.

On a relevant note, I find it quite frankly hilarious that it's actually possible to on one hand argue that women should always be treated as the equals of men, yet on the other hand argue that men have to take additional responsibilities when it comes to sexual consent. I get the whole "feeling pressured to consent" argument that I've heard to death and which is repeated ad nauseum on sites like (http://www.hugoschwyzer.net/2008/06/15/ ... nded-post/)

Either women, like men are capable of determining what they want to do, and what they do not want to do and enforcing those limits, or they are not.

If we take the "If I don't sleep with him, he'll find someone else" that I've heard about 100 times by now, this is not coercion, this is a matter of deciding the least disliked outcome. It's a woman's right to decide if she wants to engage in sex, and it's a man's right to decide if he wants to. However, neither of them have to right to decide if the other person should engage in sex or remain abstinent.

I'm sorry. I might have been absent from the world for... well forever.

But could someone tell me what feminism actually *is*?

I believe that men and women should equal rights and responsibilities, but in general it is blogposts like this that instill a contempt for feminism. I do realize not all feminists are like this, but there seem to be a lot of them who are and it is both distressing and infuriating that aspie women are attracted to this particular strain of feminism which is too vile for words.

I do want to *hear* what Hyperlexian thinks of this particular matter though. :P

It is what people who identify as feminists deem suitable for the discussion/agenda they are partaking in at that moment.

It's quite similar to how a lot of believers do not admit to thinking that the Bible is an exact historical retelling in a debate, but do believe that in private.

Have you taken the argument to her?

As ever, I don't see the problem. This is one person's attitude, and one I find myself in agreement with. The only entitlement I see is yours. I mean, what is the issue here that bothers you? What is the unfair behaviour?

I don't know if this is something you go out looking for - as might be indicated by your Googling it - or if it's a US thing or what.

Why shouldn't someone identify first as a woman, then aspie? I'm guessing this might come down to what gets called 'privilege'.

https://twitter.com/MalePrivilege (LOLsome examples)

That is, if I go out in the world, I am not made aware that I am male, (or that I am white, etc). However, my class and financial situation can very quickly come into it, as does my asperger's. That is, the world is set up a certain way. The easier you move through the world, the less you notice it. So an aspie woman is more likely to be noticed as a woman than an aspie, and so that is how she'll conceive of herself. And I really don't see as to why she shouldn't.

ETA: What a lot of such complaining comes down to is, "I am a victim of you talking about being a victim", no?

Lemme put it to you this way, Hopper: I personally feel no guilt whatsoever about being a straight, white, cisgendered male from a middle class background(I mention class for those liberal hickophiles who get butthurt over "classism"). Period. I reject this concept of original sin in all of its forms; both biblical and secular. The whole concept of "white male cis hetero privilege" is just more far left guilt tripping. The whole point of inducing guilt in certain people(AKA guilt tripping) is to make them feel like they owe you something. That's why I really need to tune out white, upper middle class feminists who whine about "male privilege".

When I go out into the world, I am made to feel acutely aware of having asperger syndrome as well as the fact that I am perceived as threatening just by the look of me and frequently excluded and falsely accused of menacing people. It's like I'm a black man and there's this silent racism. Aspies and Blacks have one thing in common: The MEN from these groups are treated worse by society than the women because they are viewed as threatening.

I've got 3 words for you: divide and conquer. The strain of feminism that screams about "male privilege" has tried to actively recruit women from oppressed racial minority groups(like blacks and native americans)to join the feminist movement. The consequence of this, ironically enough, and in particular when it comes to black people, is the reinforcement of the evil racist myth of the black rapist. All this talk about "rape culture", particularly from that stupid feminist's blog I linked to, helps to strengthen the idea that autistic men are rapists and should be banished for the protection of women. But more importantly it pits austist women against autist men and hinders the cause of autism civil rights.

The whole idea of one minority group seeking to advance itself towards equality by pushing down members of another minority group is despicable and unacceptable.

I dislike the concept of 'privilege' because it more or less is trying to guilt-trip people. And the only people it would work on is people who are supposedly 'privileged' yet respect and hold minorities equal in the first place.

I don't think it's a completely incorrect concept, I just think it's the wrong way of thinking about things.

The reason I think a lot of aspie women identify with feminism first: autism, especially in females, can cause discomfort with one's gender identity. Feminism is a movement which questions gender norms. If you are high functioning, the gender issues are more prominent than the disability ones.

Also, I don't think the blogger was trying to suggest that autistic men are more likely to rape. I think she thought that bringing them up in a discussion of consent negotiations is a derail. She is entitled to that opinion.

Another issue I have with 'privilege' is that it implies that human rights are a zero sum thing. I think if women are mistreated, it doesn't necessarily follow that men benefit or even that men are responsible. A perfect example, before feminism, it was impossible for a man to be able to become rich through marriage. Highly unlikely at least. But nowadays, thanks to feminism, if you're lucky enough to marry a rich and extremely easy-going woman, you could hypothetically do nothing but sit on your ass and watch football all day!

Since men are usually the ones expected to initiate contact and, by it's nature, Asperger's and other ASD's cause problems with non-verbal communication, it stands to reason that aspie men could end up looking creepy to a lot of women, especially NT women, while not intending to.

As far as the rape issue goes though, there is absolutely no excuse to rape someone whatsoever, even if you can't read the body language because you can always ask for verbal consent. That is a bull***t excuse that even some NT men use.

AspieRogue knows so much about how women think

Funny how talking women, and being a 3rd party listener when women talk about their sex is very useful in learning about the female mind. So what do YOU know about how women think, vigilans? I have a sneaky suspicion that even if you understood how their minds work compared to how mens minds work, you'd probably spout some bullsh*t about how men will never understand them.

@Jono:

If women perceive someone as threatening or "creepy" who is not interacting with them but simply in their presence, they need to learn that those feelings of being "creeped out" are theirs and theirs to deal with. In other words if you(as a woman)feel creeped out by some guy who hasn't actually done anything to you then that is not his problem, it is YOUR problem :!: The issue I have is women blaming their own problems on men which (unfortunately)is something that many strains of feminism actively encourage. THAT IS MY ISSUE WITH THIS BLOGPOST AND WITH FEMINISM IN GENERAL.

Oh yeah

Some of the men's righs posters on [s]digg[/s] reddit noticed something similar, though hoe in the case of black peoplpe it is framed more in a racial term as opposed to "man's rights" as in the case of white people (at least in USA)

I've heard black nationalists complain on forums before on related things......but I would be interested in finding out more about this

I really don't know or care about the Mens Rights Movement nor do I waste my time on reddit dot com. But I can say from personal experience that many of the ways I've been treated seems to have uncanny similarities with the way that black men are treated-like being profiled by police and the constant target of "suspicious person" reports.
