I wonder what people feel about marijuana both recreationally and medicenally. I myself am for recreationally but not medicenally. So I'm starting a poll to see.

I like the stuff - It "saved" my life. Period.

I even told a friend that, once. Reason being was the thoughts I had while 'under the influence' provided myself clarity on areas of my life that were once shrouded. I now use it as an aid in meditation (1 hit can guide me for an hour in that state, 1)

As well, as Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath said:
'You introduced me to my mind'

I've never used marijuana and I never plan to. To me it's one of those stupid things that NTs do that I have no interest in. However, being a libertarian, I do think that marijuana should be legal for anyone who wants to use it - it's not my job or even the government's job to run others' lives.

I got secondhand exposure for a brief period once, before going to a prerelease tournament for a card game that I play. Didn't impact me, but we smacked around those in our group that were still trippy. I don't like anything that messes with my head.

However, I see the medical value, and support it being used for such reasons.

Yup, NT thing definately. If that makes you feel better, perfect, but your statement downplays all of us who do smoke it. You don't even inquire as to 'why' people smoke it, you just made a conclusion based on limited knowledge and summed up civilizations use of marijuana as an 'NT' thing.

Is it NT of me to smoke it? How about meditate with it? Every day, sit down for an hour and close my eyes and meditate - NT or Aspie or Human? Human.

Is it 'aspie' like to generalize so horribly?

In a traditional social structure many people treat visionary drugs as tools for learning and personal development, others choose to avoid them or find they are not ready to be able to handle them safely. A special few take them more frequently and have a greater ability to use them in a less egocentric way these are the shamans. They access and channel the wisdom to those that do not wish to take such drugs themselves but are not afraid to learn.

I can live without the stuff - It could "save" my life if I had a big field of it to sell. Period.

I got super high wasted maybe the first time about a year ago (I had used it lighly maybe a hundred times in the past). It was at that point I understood why kids like rap
music and the bass music (you got to be high to understand it and it makes perfect sense then). Not used it since though as those stoners moved out of town.

It doesn't matter which culture you may be in; there's always some geezer/shaman boiling up some sort of brew.
Whether he is channeling wisdom or having a nice time tripping his face off is another question.

I've used cannabis (off and on ), for about twenty years.
From my experience if used in moderation (something which i have difficulty with), then a rather mild and pleasant time can be had. My problem has always been that after around 6 weeks of being permanently stoned i start to lose complete grip of reality. Psychosis isn't too much fun.

It certainly isn't an 'NT' thing to do; nor an 'Aspie' one ( don't you find it demeaning using such words?)

Reviving this topic again, huh?
Have smoked, do smoke, will continue to smoke, and I'm leaving it at that.

I'm not trying to preach or anything, but I don't understand why people smoke. By doing so you're basically begging to die an earlier and more painful death than you otherwise would have.

Crack, Heroine, yes - Pot, no.

People will TRY and prove it kills you but they can't. There are about 45 threads here on the subject. Pot has been around for ages and if it were a problem, the evidence would speak for itself - we'd have dead people. It was made illegal on false assumptions and remains illegal on false assumptions.

I smoke because it allows me to think clearer and focus - others experiences will differ. Some smoke to relax after a day of crap, some smoke to enhance whatever it is they are doing

"Die earlier and more painfully" - o dear, this needs no response.

As for crack: this is a drug which immediately makes you feel horrible, but wants you craving more.
Heroin: after a day of crap, there is nothing which will make you relax more. And it didn't do William Burroughs's literary career much harm either Corvus.

To say "Crack, Heroine, yes - Pot, no", puts you on the same level as Dart.

To me, the choice is just a matter of 'politics'.

....although at one point I had an eight foot bong my friends and I affectionally referred to as "Manute BOWL". At this point, weed just makes me sleepy, hallucinagens make my back hurt, and the rest always bored the heck out of me. So, no drugs in my life. That said, I am 100% for legalization of ALL illegal drugs. WHY? Reasons are twofold.

1) So that some hapless twit who caught with a sheet of acid doesn't wind up taking up the jailspace that should have been reserved for the life of the rapist who got out after two years.

2) It's a WASTE of money, from enforcement down the line. That money would be better spent on rehabilitation, taxes for which could be generated from the legal sales of drugs.

Marijuana is the only illegal drug I would even consider using. A lot of people I know sometimes smoke it casually and don't seem too messed up (they're actually friendlier and easier to get along with when they're obviously stoned), but I don't think it's the kind of thing that I'd personally get into.
