Some think communism is a utopia but whenever communism is implemented with force people lose their freedoms and become worse off.

That's because utopias are not meant to be applied.

A utopia can be applied but peaceful means have to be used.

Utopia is an idealized concept of a community or society possessing most (if not all) of the following characteristics:

Absence of death and suffering
Citizens all working for the common good
Citizens doing only the work that they enjoy
Cultivation of the arts and sciences
Egalitarian distribution of goods
Few laws (and no lawyers!)
Harmony with nature
Individual liberty
Lack of any political structure
No preference for any one religion
Pacifism or pacifist attitude
Technology is used only to enhance the human living condition
Total abolition of money

The word "Utopia" comes from the Greek words for "not" and for "place", giving the meaning of "no place". The English homophone "Eutopia" is derived from the Greek words for "good" and for "place", giving the meaning of "good place". This coincidence, arising from the identical pronunciations of "utopia" and "eutopia", gives rise to the meaning "A Good Place That is No Place".

Utopia can not exist; it's perfect, and perfection can not occur in the natural universe.
